As a very loooong shot: anyone know if it's possible to find a long barrel or a turkey barrel to fit a Beretta 1201F???

28 or 30 inch or a nice 22 inch turkey barrel.

These are not common so it's not an easy thing to find.

Thanks for any help possible

Are you asking about the hunting model 1201F (top photo), or the riot gun 1201FP (bottom photo)? If the hunting model, you may possibly (but not likely) find a surplus 28" barrel to cut down to 22" but it wouldn't have the capability of interchangeable choke tubes. There are no longer barrels available for the riot gun, you are stuck with either 18" or 20" (both fixed cylinder chokes). You will see from the pics that the barrel hanger on the riot gun is further forward than on the hunting gun, so barrels will not interchange between them.

Actually, I have one of each.

Actions and receiver are the same so I wondered if with the smaller tube (magazine) barrels should fit. I'll try before I blab too much about that, though.

My question I guess is were any aftermarket barrels ever available or might any Benelli barrels fit? I think the point about there never were many spares around is fair warning about how easy it won't be to find something.

Don't think so, can't see why it would be. Were you thinking restricted for hunting because of the magazine round count?

I was more thinking of the barrel length and mag capacity.

I know centre fire semi can't hold more than 5 rds (with the exception of the M1 Garand) and forgot about barrel length is 18" or 18.5' for non-restricted?

I am sending you PM have some questions for you.

Yeah, just check the CFC:

Restricted firearms include:

* handguns that are not prohibited;
* semi-automatic, centre-fire rifles and shotguns with a barrel shorter than 470 mm (about 18.5 inches);
* rifles and shotguns that can be fired when their overall length has been reduced by folding, telescoping or other means to less than 660 mm (about 26 inches); and
* firearms restricted by Criminal Code Regulations.

So if my understanding is correct any semi-auto centre fire (regardless rifle or shotgun) if the barrel length is less than 470mm (about 18.5") should classified as restricted.

That's should explain why the Remmy 11-87 police model with a 18" is restricted and a grizzly or a dlask with a short barrel is not because its a "pump" not semi.

You own the shotgun and don't know if it's restricted or not?

A lot of shotguns that list an 18" barrel actually come with 18.5" barrels. Sometimes they get listed as restricted because they use the factory specs to go by. Case in point would be the 1187P already mentioned. Remington switched to 18.5" barrels quite some time ago yet they still refer to them as 18" so most have been registered as restricted, however some people have had them verified as having 18.5" barrels and gotten the certification changed to non-restricted.

As for the magazine tube on a semi, yes, they're limited to 5rds but they can "pinned" just like a regular magazine is. A good permanent mod is to have an aluminum plug press fit into the extension and shorten the spring.

Leg,

Not talking to me, are you? My 1201FP has a 22.5 barrel if you thought I was confused about what's a restricted shotgun.

I would like to find a 30" barrel and no interest in cutting it down, I like Mobil-chokes.

My turkey question was concerning a turkey barrel with extra-full or built specifically to take Mobil-chokes not just another short barrel but a specific-purpose barrel built for the Beretta 1201. To be clear, it seems almost impossible to find anything for this model and that seems strange.

Or is it just me??

Actually, I see with the short barrel it is. Mine has a longer barrel so isn't. I wasn't aware there was this restricted version, they are similar and both are factory originals.

Algonquin,

Sorry, I'm getting confused. Thought for some reason you said you had both versions.

I think when he mentioned he has both version: That's the 1201F (the hunting version with 28" barrel) and the 1201FP (the police model or riot model).

The 1201FP comes in different barrel length I think he mentioned his is 22" but I have seen some with 18" and I am pretty sure the 18" is restricted.
