Guess?
Hey guys.

I took the RPAL test in mid January, and I got my new RPAL card in mid March, so now I am looking at my first pistol or revolver purchase. I have been looking at many of the pieces our board sponsors sell, not to mention the EE, and I was wondering how long it takes from time of purchase until it reaches my hand, when buying retail versus private?

Thanks!

For restricted transfers, in BC, business to individual I've have 'em done in under 24 hours. Individual to individual 1 - 3 business days with next day being the norm in my recent experience.

Might be different where you're at, though. :(

Thanks! That is better than I thought, for both.

Ontario took me 1 months for my first from CanAm, but it was a norc m213 during the rush,.

My second took less than a week

For me, I challenge the course the 10th of january and got the gun and LTATT the 19th of march :D . I bought from Questar and I live in Québec province.

For your question, about 2 weeks from the day I placed the order to receiving it in my hands. Just call your CFO and be polite and ask if they need something= if you did all the paperworks OK... one week after submitting paperworks. That is enought to put your file on top. ;)

Be patient. I did my RPAL test in mid Jan as well. I sent in my application asap and ordered a Ruger Mark III last week. Still waiting.

I bought norinco m213 on Feb 17 .09
email came in on March 05.09 telling me the order is processed
so I called in to find out what that means the guy told me oh its been submited to CFO for aproval of transfer
Yesterday being March 27.09 I called CFO (ontario)
to inquire about a gun I bought a week ago locally and the transf was completed I asked about Canada Ammo and he said the transfer has NOT been initiated. So I called the dealer he said he doesnt know why it was NOT being submited to CFO and will call back the same day to tell me what is going on. NO CALL a number of emails have been ignored

I dont think I will deal with them again
IF I get a hold of them on Monday and they have no answer
I will request a refund and cancel the order

When I buy a restricted locally I usually get it the same day (if its a week day.... I love having the CFO in my city).

When I bought from Kodiak outpst, I had the gun about 8 days after ordering.

When I ordered a M-213 from Canam (during the rush) I got it in 8 weeks.

When I bought via a private sale (he's in BC, I am in SK) it was 9 weeks total, from "I'll take it" to "I got it". Some of that was b/c he insisted on a MO instead of EMT, and he Needed all of the paperwork from the CFO & CFC before he would ship. Getting transfer paperwork from the CFC via the mail is usually 3 to 4 weeks, he already had the Ref#, I still don't understand the need to wait.....?????

Anyway I hope this helps.

I have waited 6+ weeks for an ATT on a new retail store purchesed pistol. July 06.
The last one I bought was on a Thursday, Picked it up on Sat. Oct 08.

The first transfer wasn't any longer than any other transfer. It was waiting for the club ATT that made me wait the most.

BTW... YNWA

Is there any truth to the a policy of the CFO calling your references *again* on the first purchase of a restricted?

My first restriced was transfered in less than a week and no calls at all to my references for it and this was a month ago. I have two m213s that I have been told the cfo is holding up and one was march 5 and still just processed so who knows what goes on but it can really vary. Not sure why the cfo would hold a transfer that long and not at least inform me of it or why and get more info if they need it but we are kinda at their mercy here, so sad.
