You guys see the 308 from kel-tec

And as he says in a previous post, .308 is not a caliber that is restricted from export.

I think I spoke too soon when I said import papers are in-hand... but it looks well on it's way from what I can gather!

That might not be the case for long, but that's another thread (a few threads, actually).

Yes. Dangertree has already indicated that he has import permits, and even the FRT listing already.

I suspect we will see these here before the summer (come on Walt...);)

Quick update,

We have the FRT for Canada, not Commercial Re-Sale Export Permits from DOS.

I had a meeting on Tuesday regarding these, and should have a small update very soon.

As to when they'll be here (if licensing goes through the way I'm trying to make it happen), we'll be at the mercy of Kel-Tecs backorder list, which is a mile long. These don't get built until final approved config (as per the type of license) is determined. As of today, we don't have a final approval on configs for commercial resale.

If any LE or MIL members want to get cracking, please shoot me an email to the address below.

Thanks for the update, Dangertree.

Does that mean that you can import and sell to LE, but not to the general public?

What I haven't understood about LE end user is does it have to be sold to a LE department or LE individual? Like can a LE officer purchase one of these and then turn around and sell it to a non LE individual?

Sounds like it.

Dangertree, is this a US legal thing that particular units for import using a certain license can only be sold to LE, and using another license the units can be sold to civys?

Kind of like with the 40mm M305 launcher from colt?

Just trying to understand how the process works is all.

Thats not what he meant, he says that he doesn't have them YET and he's going to have a meeting concerning these rifles and hopes that it turns out positive about the posibilities of what is needed to be on these guns to be exported.

Better not tell more and wait that Dangertree meet with the guys and tells what they decided.

No, LEO selling a gun imported on a LEO end user certificate would violate the terms of the certificate (and US law)....

The thing I've never understood is if the firearm must be for use by the department, or if a LEO can buy it for personal use? If the second case is true, I'm tempted to apply to the RCMP and quit after my RFB arrives. :p

You can buy it for personal use. Same as the Colt 6920 AR-15. But.... the price is still pretty high and you're limited from selling it. Given the option it's always better to buy a firearm/optic etc through the regular channels if you may want to sell it later.

Great

That is the part I didn't want to hear....So, even after the 'T's' are crossed...With the frenzy down south, We might have a 3-6 month wait on top of it????

Aren't these a Sporting Rifle??? Why would LE or MIL need these? Not suitable for them at all.......

Thank you for the update

What is beyond me is how the heck to they (USA) track this, once it is in country they are out of the loop. I realise that the seller would violate the end-user agreement but how would they know. I didn't think that LEO's as individuals could buy it, not any more than a Military person could, my understanding is that it had to be a departmental order with the agencies letter head on all requests.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all police officers are considered civilians unless they also served in the Canadian Forces.

Oh that very well may be! Thanks for the heads up. I was always told they weren't but I have no way of knowing for sure.

It's very easy. They don't have to. They know that 99 percent won't violate their word. If I agree that I can't sell it, then it won't be sold.

If I were an auxilary police officer and I was able to buy a non res RFB I would agree never to sell it and I would be true to my word on that. Cause why would I ever want to sell a 308 bullpup. :)
