Hey guys, I used to go out gopher shooting all the time with my dad when I was a kid, always down to the same farm. I'm only 25 now but I haven't been out for probably 12 or 13 years, my dad doesn't really do it anymore and I think the farmer he knew is gone. Just wondering how some of you guys go about it, ie. finding a place, asking permission, do you know the people who own these farms or were they strangers initially? Really want to get into it again and hopefully drag my dad back out there as it was a lot of fun. Thanks.

just grab a pair of binos or a spotting scope and go for a drive

spot some of the buggers and ask permission

i dont think i have ever had a land owner say no to shooting gophers

take a notepad and take names and phone numbers too so you can phone ahead....also think about giving them YOUR contact info...that itself instills confidence that you will be respectful to their property

go get em!!!

Yup, just use a 22 if there are houses near by...I have even been given ammo, invited in for lunch and ect :D Farmers love responsible gopher shooters :D

I used to shoot gophers where the district of Wild Wood is today. I lived in Spruce Cliff and the city limits at that time ended at 37th St SW. There was a skeet club on 17th Ave and 34 St SW right between where the two schools are now (the one on the corner of 17 Ave and 33 St SW was tore down about two years ago).

Yes, I'm that old.
