Hi all,

Anyone know if those Smith & Wesson Disaster Ready Kits with the Sigma 9mm are available in Canada?

I'm not expecting the world to end to-morrow or anything, it's more out of morbid curiosity.

I ran a serch and didn't find any info...

I really doubt it.

IIRC, the newer Sigmas have too short a barrel to make it across the line.

Besides, you can make your own bug out/SHTF kit probably cheaper, better and not be tied to the Sigma.

I have seen the Mossberg one around somewhere though, can't remember where, possibly at a gun show.

Yeah, I was thinking of putting a kit together (sans the gun). I just thought the S&W one was kind of a cool presentation.

Bullwhip, any probs with the Sigma, aside from the short-a553d barrel? You don't sound like you like 'em...

Personally, no, I don't have anything against Sigmas.

There are people on here that bought used ex-police Sigmas and had less than good luck with them. Some others, no problem. Just do a search under Sigma in Pistols and Revolvers to read up.

My understanding is the Sigmas S&W are making and selling today have been improved. There again, you'd probably have to surf some to the US S&W boards to see what the reviews on the current model are.

Even if you could find a Disaster pack, as new ones aren't really common there is always concern regarding finding mags, holsters, and accessories (if that floats your boat) versus say buying a Glock or even an M&P.

Hm. That makes sense. I'm not really in the market for a handgun yet anywa, as I've only just done my PAL exam, and the next Restricted course that's not full is in June. I'm thinking more and more of those CZs when the time comes, or maybe one of the M&Ps.

And honestly, if I really thought the world was going to end this year, I'd probably get a better dollar's worth out of building my own disaster prep kit...

Might be nice to put together a bug-out kit along the lines of the one the Red Cross offers, but in an aluminium case. I can probably find one similar to a pistol case or a microphone case with customisable foam inside... Don't know yet whether I really want to make a gun part of it. Hadn't even crossed my mind until I saw those sigma ones. I think that if I lived in Louisiana, the gun would be a no-brainer, but I think it *might* be less important around here...

I haven't yet decided. I'm going to try and do my restricted license in June. I'll decide then, I guess.

disaster kit. I got a little pile for bugging out, depending on the situation.

gun stuff is in 2 ammo cans,

1 mixed stuff, knives, tools, compass, spare mags and some ammo
2 ammo only (9mm and 7.62)

now I have other bags with all sorts of other kit around, every vehcile has basic survival stuff in it, and there is always my hunting bag that I can grab in a hurry. Lots more goodies in there.

Beer is a must in any disaster kit brother:D

Trigun

:D got a full bottle of Rye Whiskey.

Long term the Wife has hopps growing all over the fence, I don't know what sort of hopps or how to use it properly to make beer but its on my to learn list. The Barley part is not that hard to cook up. :) Perhaps this fall I will have to give it a go.

Now a full out disaster kit will have to have a preasure cooker or 3 and some nice stainless 1/4" line. Really need to put together a proper still again. :D

You know in Alberta you can get a permit to run a still but you can only produce 500 gallons then you need to renew the permit :D Oh and your susposed to use it as fuel ;)

Isn't this your home page Lee Enfield?

HeHe, I don't really beleive in the 2012 thing. My sister does tough, she is going to stock up on food starting next year. She is also expecting me and my dad to be ready to protect us since we have the guns. I will just use this as an excuse to buy a few more guns, lots of ammo, ect.

Well, I've read about this 2012 thing, and since I believe literally everything I read, I figured it would be best to be prepped.

;)
