P17 Barrel?

P17 barrel

I'm assuming yours is still in original form (not bubb'd)? Only source for a M1917 (P17) barrel is from a sportered rifle with an uncut barrel . Most any gunshop or show usually has a few. I've seen them from $75-150 with good bores. Of course you'll need to find one that matchs the maker of your rifle (Winchester, Remington or Eddystone). Trouble might be finding a gunsmith willing to do the work.

Does anyone know of a source for a 30-06 P17 Barrel?

Thanks!:)

Changing those barrels is extremely difficult. They are virtually in to stay. To remove them you pretty much need to turn the barrel back in a lathe just outside the receiver to relieve the torque pressure.

If you can find a barrel that is already off, then it's doable, just have yours removed with that method and torque the new one in.

I have heard that people have used like 30 foot long bars trying to get them apart and ended up breaking the action. Not true?

I've heard of not touching something with a ten foot pole, or not touching some girls with another guy's ten foot pole, but a 30 foot pole has really really long leverage.
