416 remington

Can't imagine why they'd make a standard lengh round when the 700 will take the big ones. If they're loading it to 2600 with a 400 gr. it has plenty of capacity. Don't know about being within everyones recoil tolerance though.

I loaded my 416 Rem to 2425 fps with 76 grs H4895 under a 400 gr Interlock RNSP. 350 gr Speers under 82 grs Varget did 2550 fps and worked well on a moose and a mule deer.

If you are a fan of Remingtons, they are going to be releasing the .416 MARUM pretty soon!

Chambered in a new version of the Rem 700, called the Model 700 XCR African - available mid 2009 in a 700 trinyte coated barreled action (like XCR). 22" medium contour barrel w/ sights & w/ barrel band front swivel. brown laminate stock, ADL blind magazine, Limbsaver R3 pad

chambered in the *new* .416 MARUM which appears to be a shortened 375 Rem Ultra Mag case to make it same OAL length as a 30-06. The ammo will feature two loads, a 350 grain Cor Lokt Ultra bonded @ 2800 f/s , and a 400 gr Swift Aframe @ 2600 f/s

speaking with a sales rep about the new cartridge he says it was designed to give big bore thump in a easy to handle rifle with recoil levels that most anyone can handle.

Suggested retail is approx $1100 canadian

To be honest I don't own a box stock Remington....Truth be known I'm a Remington action fan.
I don't believe Remington could build a decent DGR if their corporate life depended on it....We shall see.

You still have your 416 Bartel?
Or did the recoil turn you off?

Just curious.

...............and lived to tell about it too...:)

I built a 416 Taylor a few years back...I think that's all the 416 bore fun I'd want....though I still think about another one now and then....:)..still have the reamer...cccan talked me into it...:)

More likely it was his rifle whoring ways :p

I have built a few .416 Remingtons. All the customers were happy with them and did not think they needed more...

I shot one 8.5 pound rifle with 400 grain solids... it really rocked me. The lighter bullets were not so bad.

I have a .416 neck and throat reamer so I can build a .416 on just about any case. I have often thought one on a 30-06 case dedicated to lighter bullets would be interesting...

I'd be interested in that build, seriously what would you build it on aside from a Remington action as I have Mauser, Springfield or Enfield actions available.

Does that mean we (you ) can mix the 375 Ultra reamer with your 416 Neck and make a 416/375Ultra?

You built my 7lbs 15oz 416 Rem on a B&C stock....Which the rifle promptly ate!.
How come you never test fired my rifle???LOL

What did need ever have to do with anything! :D :D

No I sold it years ago, too nice of a gun to be hauling around the bush for me. It booted, but it was part of the experience. :D

For those of you that might be interested I have decided to build a 416 Ultra.
It will take some time to get all this misc bits an pieces, but I will will keep everyone posted on ballistics and how it works as soon as it is done.

I am expecting to drive 400grain bullets at 2600fps with modest pressures and 2650 if I lean on it.

Has anybody got any links to this thing?
