Can I have suggestions for a particular scope for a new 375 Ruger? I was thinking a rapid z 600 zeiss conquest. I am attempting to avoid magnum eyebrow. Any tips on mounting?

I topped my Ruger African with a 2-7X32 Vortex Viper. I am very happy with the scope. I got the Vortex BDC reticle and although not as comprehensive as the Ziess it fits .375 Ruger ballistics very closely (using 270 gr Sp Rp.)

Function, fit, and finish are excellent, optics are crisp and clear, and eye relief is generous. All wrapped up with an excellent warranty, and competitive pricing. No complaints.

There is a short review of the scope in Optics somewhere.

I have used several scopes on my 375H&H's ... including Zeiss Diavari-C 1.5-4.5x18 and Swarovski AL 4x etc. but have found that the fixed 4x are for me the best. The are a lighter (with less internal parts) and put less strain on the mounting system under recoil (although the Sako/BRNO/Rugger integral bases are very good at minimizing this issue) and they are sufficient power to use the long and short range hunting capability of the round. Fixed 4x can be found with pretty good eye relief and the (well at least some) Swarovski scopes have a very useful rubber rimmed collapsing ocular that prevents nasty eyebrow cuts if you get to close. Recoil strikes from a scope tube seem more likely for guys shooting from sitting, kneeling or prone -- standing they seldom happen ... at least from my experience.

I'd be looking for a fixed 4 power wih a fairly substantial reticle - I like post or the "Z-Plex" style

I have a leupold vxIII 2.5-8x36 on my 375 alaskan. Seems to work pretty well for me. I use the gun from pretty heavy cover to open shooting.

I had a rapid 600 and sold it and have ordered a rapid z 800 for a grey wolf Sako 7 mm rem mag. Im looking at the 600 again for this gun.

I mean the whole "what scope for a .375" thread thing. Anyway I have a 3.5-10 VX111 on one .375 and a 3-9 Zeiss Diavari on another. General purpose hunting scopes on what are argueably the most versatile allround hunting calibers in existence.
