Norc M4/ CQ 5.56 Scope Choice

A cheap, low magnification fixed power would be a good bet if you wanted to concentrate on further distances (200-500m). A good option would be the Millet DMS-1. It's not fixed, but the illuminated reticle, combined with the 1-4x would make it a good choice for CQB type matches as well as engaging targets out to further limits of its capabilities. Believe that Falcon makes a low powered variable as well. Throw it in a cheap offset mount like the Armalite one piece and call it a day.

Now the million dollar question is where to find one. Apparently Millet has sold out and the Falcon is in short supply.

Why would an offset mount be needed? Doesn't the rifle come with a rail on the upper? Can you not attach rings to that?

I always figured a Burris Fastfire would work well on this, as I'd only use it at shorter ranges myself.

CenterPoint

I'm waiting to get some rings to mount my new CenterPoint 6 x 32 Compact on my Stag AR. The brand (owned by Crosman, the airgun people) has got some good comments in the U.S. where it seems to be more available. It's typically sold through big box stores and airgun shops.

It's got an illuminated mildot reticle (red or green) and AO and (because it's for springer airguns) should be ruggedly built.

I'll be mounting using the basic Yankee Hill 27 scope riser right onto the receiver's rail with Leupold PRW rings ... I just have to determine the correct height. I'll give a range report as soon as I can.

The shorter the range, the more pronounced the offset will be. Minimizing your offset is most important for close range shooting.

What's the best way to minimize the offset, have the scope sit closer to the barrel, i.e on a rail right on top of the receiver and not on top of the carry handle? But then you'd have that front iron right in the way..

What is going on here? I thought we were talking about the Norc M-4? It's a flat top, why in the hell would you mount anything to a removable carry handle?

As for the front sight base, you won't even notice it, the image blurs out. At 1x you'd see it but the crosshairs should be just above it.

The z-mount is your best option if you're running an A2 upper(fixed carry handle). If your rifle is "flattop ready" then mount direct and be done with it. The closer you mount your optics to boreline the better.

As far as low mag optics are concerned. At the low end you don't see any of the FSB, a slight dark blur at the 6 o clock position is all that is noticeable.

Everyone should take a look at matchstickglobal dot com it's like a dirt cheap ninja fast shipping candy store for optics and other stuff. I love that place... where else can you find an EOtech for 53 USD! The only thing I'm not sure of is if they are 'real'... I ordered a Tasco scope from them and it was here in a week, and so far is perfect in every way!

I'm sure. I wouldn't put something like that on my gun.

Bushnell makes perfectly good red-dots at a good price point, they just don't have the "cool" factor ... but neither does a cheap fakepoint or similar.

I found the "Tactical Assault Pistol Holder Handbag" particularly amusing.
