I picked up my Lyman .54cal GPR kit today from Hill Folk Musket Supplies :dancingbanana::dancingbanana:
Hopefullly I'll get her up & ready for shoosting this summer between "block leave" and pre-deployment training .

Looks like she will muck out to be a damn nice rifle!!

Man... I sometimes kinda wish my Jager was that pre fit.

I've decided she's gonna wear a "blue" coat and "Tru-Oiled" furniture. I handled a finished one a WSS and liked what I seen except for the dark stained walnut, I prefer to see grain better than that so I will avoid staining.

I ended up doing the bbl in a "Plum Brown" and the wood walnut stain, True Oil, Stock Sheen Conditioner & Stock Wax ( All Birchwood Casey Products).
This bruiser buck gopher was taken with a .530 handcast round ball & patch in front of 80grs Goex FFG at approx 30yds ;)
 
My .54 shot best at 100gr FFG and a .018 patch You're probably better off using nothing smaller than a .58 on dangerous game like gophers.......................Shoulda dehaired em like a flamethrower at close range never mind the lead!!!Harold
