Anybody know where in Canada I can get either a bent bolt assembly for a 91/30 or a conversion kit?

Its a pain because we cant legally import a bolt without an import permit and the only conversion kit I can see comes with a mount I dont want from Marstar (made by ATI)

Its a shame because there are some nice ones available at a fair price in the US.

You and me both bra....

Though I think that the price of the bolt handle plus the mount still isn't that bad of a deal, just give the mount away as a stocking stuffer!!

BTW: besides the EE, I believe we all are SOL... :)

PS: Does anyone know if bolting and welding on the bolt handle to the bolt is a viable option... you know, to give that cool "real" sniper bolt look???

err, what? Why would you bolt it if you're going to weld it? If you're going to weld it, why would you weld a sub-par bolt handle?

At that rate you might as well just fab your own bolt handle. A small section of steel rod, a larger steel bearing, a welder,an oxy acetylene torch, and a grinder will turn out a far better bolt handle

It would be a quick job on the lathe to make up a piece to weld onto the bolt body.

The hard part is to no warp or heat stress the bolt body in attaching the new handle.

I think that a bolt on setup is good enough for me. Not the nicest looking end state. But it works.

To give it that pimped out bubba look of course!!! Sheesh, some guys and their metrosexual sense of style....

Just kidding, that is a better idea, I was under the impression that it would thus be stronger having been lagged into the bolt body and welded..... on second thought, I think Ill just bondo something up, then it'll be real Red Army quality!! :)

I just got a reply to my email to him.

No problems. $50 to do the bolt. $5 more if I want to send the whole bolt assembly for polishing aswell as the handle conversion.

Turnaround is 8-10 weeks so its pretty apparent that he is getting plenty of work.

I wish it would be faster, but I guess its like restaraunts. I always figure its better to eat at the busy place that has been around for a few years, even if you have to wait, than to eat somewhere that is fast.

I still wish there was a Canadian doing these jobs. It wouldnt be hard.

I'm gonna do something like this to a M-91/30 barreled action I got for $35 at the Red Deer gunshow last year. Unlike the one on the EE now this is complete only missing the stock and handguards. Bolt isn't matching so I don't feel bad about being bubba for a bit.

I just found out that there is a guy running a conversion service off of ebay. Seems reputable. He ha a ~$50 welding job or a ~$30 screw on mod.

Lots of good pictures.

Since when was it a problem to import a bolt handle? A complete bolt yes but I didn't think just the sleve with the handle was a problem. When I did my 91/30 sniper repo last year I got a bolt handle from a guy on ebay.

For your repro, where did you get the pu scope mount?
