Russian SKS45 long thread.

Ok, so what is the consensus, Is a Cabella's Bell refurb worth about $250 shipped and taxed?

I got a message from them on my answering machine today that they have one for me if I still want it.

They must be down to the dregs by now, are the ones now being shipped ok or not?

I think you guys are getting the returns from disgruntled GunNutz.

I would think you are better off buying one of the nice unissued ones from Moving Target or other dealers.

However, if you want it for a bush gun or shooter, then they aren't that bad.
 
To be fair, we can't compare prices here unless we are talking about the price delivered to your door. Your quote of $250 is for delivery to your door while the prices mentioned for some of the other suppliers is the basic price.

If we start at $199 as the basic price at SIR, I haven't seen one being sold for that price or less anywhere else including here on the EE forum. So that should answer your question whether they are worth the price of $199 or not.

And as far as which one someone should get, it would depend on what you want to do with it. I would not buy an SIR one for collection but as a shooter or one that you might want to dress up, they are a good deal.

In the end, it won't matter where you buy them from, they are a good investment and please do not compare them to the Norinco's of the last 25 years or so.

In the end, if I had to do it again, I would try very hard to buy one only after seeing it.

And as a last comment/question, when did you ever see a matching Russian SKS45 sell for less that $199?

Yes, the HH in Yorkton cost a little more for shipping, but for the cost of the gun $200, I got a 55 with only the stock being replaced and a completely matching 53. No paint, no black bolt.

I got my shooter 55/56 laminate from Frontier.
 
Hi all!! Remember how I was not impressed with my SKS I got in February??? Well today I got my Russian red beauty. Lotsa stamps around the cross bolt. Gold bayonet! I will post pics soon. It's sooooooooooo gorgeous! Nothing x-ed out or ep-ed! I am ecstatic!

lol, I just sent a friend of mine a link to Frontiers site, for the SKS's, and he said he started to cry

He then sent me a link to a US site where they were selling Norinco SKS's for $700, SKS Ds for 900, and Yugos for $900

mind you he did just buy an AK47, so I guess he kind of wins in the end

wow!! those prices are just nuts, even when converted to canadian$ ... check out gunbroker.com , much better prices but still wont get a russian SKS45 for nowhere near what we are paying .

I got it at Chwk Dart and Tackle. It's soooooo awesome. Thinking it might possibly even be un-issued. It's just fabulous.... I don't work tomorrow so I will post pics!!!! Yay me! I am just so happy. I really need a life! Sigh.
