Svt 40

It would be nice to have an SVT to see how close my tapco is to fitting......

well i would classify it as a major conversion that Might work

the tapco would have to be longer and you would have to screw with the inletting entirely so you might just end up with a useless item in the end

if i can find a stock under 100 , i would be happy to give it a go .......i just don't want to bang up my origional stock anymore as they are likely to become as rare as hens teeth

i would like to see replacement gas pistons hit the market .........so we can save the origionals

Stock is black american walnut. Cost was 250 for the wood. Stainless steel pin for mount receiver. Took 15 long evenings to complete.

250 for the wood????

Are you getting it shipped to you by buying it a seat on Air Canada???

edit: DUH! I forgot it was april fools day for a second there.

Walnut is expensive. It's quite common around here to have someone buy a house with walnut trees on the lot, then cut them down and pay off the mortgage.

I have some big walnut trees in the backyard that I hate...they poison everything else. Is there anyone that will come and take em away and pay me a bunch of $ for them??:D

Call around! It's kind of sad to see them go, but if they are made into gun stocks I am all for it.

When I'm picking wood for a long stock, I prefer to go to a company that specializes in hardwood. Because I need wood that comes from the initial part of the trunk closest to the roots.

For the rough cut, I need a piece of wood 1 foot by 5 feet by 2 inches.

After that I need the wood planed true till it measures 10 inches by 4 feet by 2 inches.

Here is a work in progress photo.

Soon I will be done with a current project which is picatinny scope mounts for svt40 so I will have photos of that soon.

I know black walnut's expensive, I work with wood a little bit too. Even if that was carved out of a 10 inch nominal wide plank, an inch and a half thick, and four feet long, there's no way he should have had to pay more than 10 or 12 bucks a linear foot.

Right?

EDIT, I see you posted while I was writing, and holy jeebus you put alot of pricey wood into that planer/jointer!

Anyway, regardless of the cost of wood, you've got a nice stock there. Good job.
