M14 Stripper clips?

They work slick. Try to get some Canadian Milsurp ammo (IVI) and they will come on stripper clips. A little cold on the thumb in the middle of winter, but in summer, works better than mag changes.

Use your combo tool to push down on the ammo. Your thumb loves the corner of the stripper clip. Right up until the time when it reaches it and tears a big hole. Hurts like he..!

I use them in service rifle matches... I like them... easier then changing a mag out on a reload, but they can be sticky and tricky at first..

Where do you get the Canadian Surplus ammo from???

Gunshow in Winnipeg or Brandon, I can't remember. Its IVI and has a C something number on it from my memory. I think it was made in 76 or 77. I guess the same stripper clip guide fits FN-FAL's???

Grizzlypeg:

When I carried the FNC1A1 30 years ago (well 1975 is close enough) we used those stripper clips to charge (blank ammo as well) our mags while in the rifle, and then as ammo party on the range. Worked well.

Fast forward to 1987 when I tried loading the ammo 5 rd clip under stress using an M14 for the 300yard rapid fire strings, and I ended up slicing my thumb while driving the cartridges down in a hurry! From now on I just use the magazine. :D

Practically, those IVI clips are great for locking your action open so that you don't trip your bolt forward while cleaning your barrel from the muzzle end, thereby sending the cleaning rod across the workshop! :ninja:

I used stripper clips in the FNC1 & 2, my M305 and never hurt my thumb in all this time.

YET hehehehehe
The ones we have now are plastic and we have a guide that goes over the mag. Really simple to operate but requires the mag to be out of the C7 to charge.

We also had a clip guide that went over the mag as well as the one built into the rifle dust cover.

My ammo cabinet:D Ive never used the stripper clips in my M14. Its pretty much had a scope on it since day one. Ive got tons of a IVI ammo on stripper clips though. Most of it is dated from 78'-81' ammo and stripper clips. NONE is for sale! Its all mine:50cal:
