Hello all, Is it legal to have Copper core hollow point ammo?

Are these silvertip HP bullet made of steel jacket and lead core?

Both are legal.
No not steel cased.
Only real illegal handgum ammo is ammo designed to defeat bullet proof vests.

I have yet to find someone importing the DPX into the country. The Win STHP does not have a jacket made of steel, it's just silver coloured copper, IIRC.
 
STs are regular copper color underneath that silver coating. As for DPX I have yet to see any this side of the border. Looks crazy though. Solid copper slugs penetrate like mad I wonder if hollow points would share that characteristic. Both legal, the ST is a pretty good design. Good expansion and no separations in all I have ever recovered.

penetrate a BP vest with a .22LR?? is that true? so why police need BP vest anyway, maybe a leather jacket would be better.
 
Some of the Silvertip jackets are aluminum, I know the old 38 SPL "Chiefs Load" used a deep hollowpoint and an aluminum jacket to let it expand when shot from a 1 7/8 inch barrel.
 
JHP's are 100% legal, I have lots for all my pistols. They are expensive in Canada.
 
To actually penetrate a bp vest it takes very little. I have done it with a .22 LR out of a .22 rifle.

If a .22 rf can penetrate a vest, then it sure as hell isn't a bullet proof vest is it? Bullet proof vests actually stop bullets. Thats why we call them "bullet proof".

I have shot .22 and a lot of other stuff at an RCMP issue level 2A kevlar vest and the vast majority of conventional ammunition is stopped by the vest. Only high velocity specialty ammo can penetrate.

there not called "bullet-proof vests" obviously you have very little knowledge on them if you call them "bullet proof vests"

they are designed to stop low powered handgun rounds

it does not take "speciality" ammunition to penetrate it almsot any RIFLE ammunition will penetrate it....

Suputin is pretty knowledgable on BA. He had some threads detailing various tests he did. While it is not technically correct there is nothing wrong with calling it a bullet proof vest. I am thinking you don't know where the term originates.

sorry, not trying to sound like a #### or anyhting but ive never (outside of video games and movies" heard it called a "bullet proof vest" as this would lead one to believe NO bullets regardless of type could penetrate it.... take any bullet proof vest and shoot it with a 50 BMG and see if it goes through....apparently its not bullet PROOF now is it?
