cannot find it through search here. Nobody seems mentioning the actual steps one have to take to become a gunsmith. My questions are - what certification is required to start fixing guns for profit? What cources to take and where? How long is educational process? I am not serious at the moment but tinkering with guns is all I think day and night seems like. Definitely will be setting up my own workshop sometime.

Federally all you need to do is pay for a business license and you can accept payment for working on guns. Some provinces may have other regulations.

"Profit" is not part of the licensing qualification.

"...what certification is required..." None. Other than a Firearms Business Licence. Don't expect to make any profit when you're new. Setting up your own shop is an expensive proposition. You'd have to buy everything COD(no supplier will give you credit when you're new) and the banks will not lend you money. Knowing how to run a business is essential.
"...courses to take and where..." Stateside in Colorado(14 months), Alabama(2 years), Arizona(2 years), North Carolina Community Colleges(there are two), Oklahoma(2 years) and Pennsylvania(16 months). You can't work, Stateside, during that time. Long US dollars for tuitions and you have to pay all your living expenses. Very limited job prospects in Canada and low pay if you can find a job.
