It was good to get out again. It was a little cool and windy so I only shot for an hour. Land owner still had a few cow's in the field but I made sure they were behind me when shooting.

Still looking for another field to go to as this one gets pretty slow after about a week or so as there really arn't too many gophers to shoot.

That .17HMR V-Max really opens them up  I didn't expect that much damage.

The HMR is a really great varmint round. They work equally well on anything up to coyotes from what I've heard.
The real fun starts when the Barnes varmint grenade handloads start flying out of my .223 around here. :D

I still can't believe the damage the V-Max did. As I watched the impact through the scope it was like that little fellow was turned inside out

Awww! Those poor, cute little cuddly animals...:D:D We still are locked in "global warming" here(80 miles, yes MILES east of Regina). I am dying to get back to Ogema and Mankota to do my civic duty and help the farmers. Friggin' gophers have nearly ruined some farmers out in SW SK. I will do my best. :p

If I lived where you are, I'd me making trips into the Swift Current area on a regular basis. Was there for the gun show this past weekend and them rodents were plentiful. FS

you southeners seem to be hogging all the gophers. last year me and some buddies probably went gophering atleast twice a month and there weren't as many as you guys encountered. hopefully this year will be different. either that or i gotta make a trip towards you guys.

80 miles East of Regina, so that is past Indian Head and I am guessing in the Grenfell area?

You got 'er Pontiac!!:p:p Grenfell is where I was born and have lived for most of my ++ years. The odd year, we have plenty of gophers around here, but only if it is really dry. Gophers don't like long grass. There was plenty of short grass in the Mankota area the last couple of years. We still have friggin' snow here!

Finally got my 204 out this afternoon, I have a new favorite gopher caliber, Barnes 26gr Grenades at 4100+ fps are friggin spectacular and deadly accurate out of my VSSF II. The acrobatics and devastation were visible through the scope. IMO all the hype about this caliber is right on.:dancingbanana::nest:
