300WM into 6.5 Rem Mag

it would be a lot more trouble than its worth. The 6.5 is much shorter than the others, meaning you'll have to trim off ~1/2" then size down in several steps, then ream out the neck (which will be too thick).

Can I resize 300WM or 7mm Rem Mag into 6.5mm Rem Mag using a FL sizing die? Anyone done this?
Thanks
Frank

Why do you want to do this?

6.5-300WSM dies already exist, and so do the chamber reamers. It is easy to go from 300 wsm to 6.5-300 wsm, and this cartridge has excellent ballistics

I once bought a bag of hundreds of 6.5mm brass from an estate sale. Most of it turned out to be new, unfired. Included in the lot was about 150 brass that was made from 7mm Rem Mag and 264 Win Mag. It didn't appear to be neck reamed. About a dozen had a small wrinkle in the neck running parallel to the axis, which may have been from scrunching too much brass down to the 6.5mm neck. So, yes it's possible from these two calibers. I do think new brass is still obtainable. I saw one thread that said Mystic Precision, a sponsor here, can get it.

RCBS makes a die set to form 350 Rem Mag from 7mm Rem Mag and, or 338 Win Mag. They also make a die to form 6.5 Rem Mag from 350 Rem Mag. Die set to form both steps would probably be in the $200.00 range. If you order you should inquire about a die set to form 6.5 mag from 264 win mag. Neck thinning would be necessary and outside neck turning is preferable to inside neck reaming. Neck reamers are notorious for causing eccentricity issues in neck thickness.

Um, maybe he has a 6.5 Rem Mag to feed. Yes, you can form 6.5 RM from any of the medium length belted mags. RCBS sells form dies. The 6.5 RM is a good caliber, very under rated. Fully the equal of the 6.5-06. - dan
