I just recieved my DA Grizzly 12" w/ ghost ring sights. Im very happy with the gun, but i have a very small issue. I purchased a replacement magazine tube cap with a smily face from Daves Surplus. When i thread the new cap on the tube it only rotates a small distance before it starts to encounter resistance and becomes hard to turn. Though it doesn't feel like its being forced, just like it has a an O-ring in it. The barrel, once the new cap is threaded down all the way, has about 1mm of play both in and out, and side to side. Has anyone else encountered this problem, either with the same end cap or any other after market parts? Or do i just have a shotty that was made slightly different than others?

Sometimes the 870 threaded caps (like the smiley one) don't fit Norinco/DA guns.

I've had some Norincos that work well with the 870 caps, and some that don't. I'm not sure if the mag tube is threaded metric on the Norc/DA guns, but on the 870's it's imperial.

There should be NO play in the barrel once it's tightened down. To be honest, I wouldn't shoot one with movement in the barrel.

The DA magazine cap comes with a built in sling swivel which acts like a spacer. Swapping out a regular magazine cap often results in the threads running out. If you add an aftermarket sling swivel such as GG&G, Wilson Combat, etc. the extra thickness of the sling plate makes up the difference -- allowing you to tighten up the "happy face". Note however, that the DA Grizzly uses the express method of retaining the cap (inside serrations) while the smiley cap uses the detent ball retaining method.
