Rechambering

I was looking at the parts exchange and noticed a barrel for a 257 wby mag for sale i Have a wichester model 70 XTr featherweight in 257 Roberts, and was thinking of rechambering what are pros and cons. And if possible the costs of such an operation. I am a Weatherby lover so the thought is very interesting. Any and and all reply's would be great Cheers Jim..
 
chambering itself is just a reamer with go/nogo guagers. figure $200ish, however you would have to ope up the bolt face, and possibly do magazine mods to have reliable feeding. imho not worth it
 
Thanks for the reply's I don't know if it is a long or short but have been told on a different forum that it is also the bolt face that has to be worked on so I think that it was a great idea but what was I thinking when I thought that thought. So I will leave it alone as it is a shooter at 1.25" all day long and have had for 25+ years. Cheers Jim..
 
"...will leave it alone as it is a shooter at 1.25" all day long..." Good. There would be more to it than the bolt face. You would have had to convert from a belted case to a rimless case too.
