Tossed up between 2 reticles...

I like the NP-R1. Both my NF scopes have this reticle. I find mil-dots get in the way and can obstruct targets, especially if you're using them for hold overs. I don't use them for ranging. One other thing I seem to recall that with NF scopes you need to be on 22x to range.

I have a NP-R1 on a 308 and the NP-R2 on a 6.5-284.
NightForce milldot reticle is hollow so it doesn't obscure the target.
If it were me I would look through both and pick the one I felt, was best suited to the type of shooting I was planning on doing.
The shop I bought mine off of only had those two to choose from.
You won't regret either choice.

I went with Mildot and Zero Stop Mill Turrets.

Here's why

I prefer the MLR reticle but we sell a lot of the NPR1 reticles. The NPR1 is a moa bases reticle 1moa down and 2moa across. I like the 0-Stop turret in Mils not in MOA. The MIL turret has 5mil in one turn and it only takes 2 REVs to get to 1k were the MOA is 10moa PER REV and it takes 4 ½ REVS to get to 1k. Because the 0-Stop turret do not have any Elevation REV marks you can not tell what REV you are in so when you are using the MOA 0-Stop you are best off going back down to 0 every time you get off your rifle.

I do not know how to mil turrets to adjust elevation and windage and I am wondering if going mil-dot and mil turrets go hand and hand type thing? How common is it for people to use mil-dot and mil turrets?

You should always match the reticle and turrets. Either use mil reticle and millrad turrets or NP reticle and MOA turrets.

I realize you have chose Mil-Dot Paulinski but for me I think I would probably be better off with the NP-R1 and MOA turrets because I think it will be a lot simpler to grasp even though it will take me more rotations or "clicks" to reach my desired MOA.
