As all the rifle brass I've ever reloaded I purchased as "once fired" I would always size and trim accordingly. I purchased some new brass for my .243 and am wondering if new brass comes sized and trimmed and ready to load.
 
I always do the following: size the first 1/4" or so of the neck (no lubricant necessary) just to make sure it is round. Then I chamfer the case mouth to make sure it doesn't shave bullets when seating. Length of new brass may be right at maximum, but I have never found an over-length new case yet. It is easy to check if you're concerned.
 
I always resize new brass. I have never found, so far, new brass that was too long however the case mouths are always rough and sometimes out of round. Chamfering in and out and resizing at least the necks can make a big difference. The only exception to this was someone gave me some custom Hornady brass. That was nice stuff and ready to load.
 
I had purchased 500 pcs. of new .223 Winchester brass a few months back and found after resizing brass I had to trim down to correct size. They were slightly over required length...

Me too. New or old, I run it through the same process and procedures & checks.
