Question:

Do you think it would be useful to have a sub-forum to the Action Shooting, to place dealer announcement which are specific to Action Shooting?

The Dealers have existing paid contracts with GT to post here.
He can't change that until the contracts expire, hence - this poll is irrelevant.

(And I should add that personally - I don't care one way or the other...)

Dealers should be placed in their own forms in all the various sections of gunnutz, its very frustrating trying to cut a deal with an individual at times only to find that you are talking to a dealer who adds on GST, Provincial tax and has a set price for shipping that has little to do with reality and then you end up on his email list with constant updates!

but see that is where the problem arrises... we the people know nothing of such buisness arrangments, we just see polloution and point it out.... maybe that is not for use to know or decide, BUT as a dealer do you like your ad's being seen as polloution ??

i can't even see straight to spell right this morning, but you knowwhat I mean.... there have been several threads about this as of late.

I believe the main concern is dealers posting items in here.... and they do not even cross post the same information to thier own dealer forum located just below.... take for instance the glock 22 rev4 rough texture that was posted here in the action shooting forum by a dealer.....

the same ad was not even listed in the pistol forum, or even the forum the dealer has set up for that purpose.... the g22 is a poor choice for an action pistol... if it was a G34 or G35 then it would be more appropriate here.

we the people do not know what a dealer is and is not allowed to do, nobody will divuldge that info in a sticky note somewhere so people do not jump the gun and hammer the dealers for what they see as polloution and or monopolozing a discussion forum with dealer postings (hence why there is dealer forums here)

now everything I say is complete and utter bull#### anyway, but please take the suggestion and ask GT or someone else who knows what dealers are and are not allowed to do and make a sticky thread titled "DEALER POWERS" and tell us minions what is allowed so we do not "assume" something untoward is being done.....

anyway thats my opinion, take it with the 10lbs of bull#### it was made with..... bedtime for me after I pop 3 sleeping pills :)

But that is the problem.. as a dealer, if you are trying to attract the attention of your potential customers, why do it in a way which just pisses them off?? sure you may have the "contract" which lets you do it, but as we have seen by the complaints.. maybe there is a better way to do it, that is attractive to both parties.. if the buyers are saying "we prefer to have a targeted section" which they will view regularly, and it does not interrupt their posts/reviews.. then why would a dealer not look to take advantage of this..

This poll is not irrelevant.. it's targeted at providing a solution that is attractive to both parties.. how you enforce it is a different matter, and where the contract issue lay.. but if a dealer wishes to force the issue, and post in a "regular" thread, then he has to realize that he's just pissing off his potential customers... not really a good business decision, when there is a place that is more attractive to the buyers..

just my 2 cents.

we the people

hmm...if only there was a way to tell if they were dealers...hhmmmm...

I know...why don't we lable ther nickname as "dealer"

In fact...we (the people) could write it directly under there nickname...oh wait :runaway:

Irrelevant?? I don't think so.

I have purchased 6 handguns, 2 rifles and a shotgun from dealers listed on this site. In addition I have purchased holsters, mag pouches etc as well, from supporting dealers.

Dealers who continually clutter up the discussion forums with ads will not be seeing a lot of my money. I will spend my cash with dealers who confine their posts to the Dealers sections and the EE.

:)

John

Yes, it's irrelevant. No matter what votes are on this Internet poll, (and we all know what great indicators of support an internet poll is:rolleyes:) the call is still up to GT and the dealers.
John - you're doing it right - you're voting with your wallet. That's the vote that's going to matter.

Anyway, I'm not one of the dealers that either does what ticks you guys off nor cares to; I was just trying to show thier side. It's now up to the "perpetrators" to argue thier case...

Why dont we get a sub-forum for every forum. And then we can get a sub-forum for the sub-forum and then sub-sub forums for the......

Dealers already have their own forum, and they still post in the other forums. So why add another subforum that nobody looks at?

yes I shoot IDPA ALOT... the 9mm is the most shot caliber at my club, most of the guys gave up on 40 cause it is a little more expensive and the power factor is not an issue.

But you claimed the 22 was less competitive than the 35 too...same ammo same cost.

My interpretation on this poll was different.

I read "Announcements" as being something like new products. Examples might be like the new SVI grips, or when the STI GP6 was introduced. These kinds of things I feel would be perfectly welcome in a forum even though they are indirectly advertising.

"Advertisements" I would be less thrilled with. Examples like "Dealer ### has just received a new shipment of G22's that he's clearing out at LOW LOW LOW prices!".

I like seeing Product/Service Announcements in the Action Shooting forum. I'd be interested in keeping regular "For Sale" ads out.

whatever.... you get the jist, the longer sight radius and glock marketing it as a competition gun make the g35 more capable then the g22.

if you want a pissing match lets discuss how competitive a springfield armory 1911 milspec model is vs custom target kimber or something.

Since both are allowed to be used in competition, they are both competitive guns.
Since none of them are on an competitive level with my Open gun, perhaps none of them should be listed?

blah blah blah, argue all you want.... the fact of the matter is simply this, the Glock 22 as posted in here as a dealer ad has about as much right being posted here in the "action shooting games" as it does in the "service rifle section"...... action shooting games forum covers all sports including one's with long arms ie: 3 gun

why did the dealer not post it in the "pistol" forum.... where discussion of handguns is more prevalent....

the G22 is as competitive as any other "service" type pistol.... it is not marketed as a competition gun.... plain and simple, if your to butt headed and want to continue arguing for something go ahead..... frankly I have seen people competing with ruger p89's and p90's, are they competitive or are they just people out having fun with thier choice of firearm.

hell there was even one guy in peace river using his T33 to shoot..... who gives a ####, back to the topic at hand.

should dealers be posting in the individual forums.... why does the black rifle forum have a dealer announcements area but not any of the others ?
