Horse or Quad or Jeep. Witch would u want ?

I'd love to be able to go on one of those Elk hunts like Jim Zumbo writes about, where they use horses and pack everything in and camp.

With a horse you can often ride ride right up to a whitetail. Can't do that on a quad. You can teach a horse to chase and even track, quads? Not so much.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a quad, to help feed and clean up after the horses.

Horses. I used to do a bit of horseback hunting when I was a kid, and miss it every time I have to put on the pack board...

Plus, I like having them for the same reason I bring my dog with me in the bush: they hear better than I can. You can be sure that if your horses ears are locked on to something, an animal is probably close. Same with the dog.

I bet Bill Gate's quad could..:D:p

Horses for me, Its pure and simple. Feels more natural to be on a horse in the woods than being on a quad or motor bike.

ps. This said I own a 3wheeler as I don't have space for a horse in my garage.

actually i went through this several year ago and actually took riding lessons ,was getting ready to buy a horse then an old timer told me to be carefull hunting moose with a horse might get you shot, guy can mistake as a moose nixed that idea, got a honda 3 wheeler was great until it flipped on my new rifle sold gone. did the quad thing got all muddy and froze my arse off,did the jeep and suzuki thing yup got stuck sold it .got a used argo have not looked back since.i also use for ice fishing and duck hunting crossing muskeg and swamps, two buds last year followed suit and another wants to but just cant scrape the coin ,he want new,i have a heater 8 wheel drive ,tracks and foldable tent cab.i carry all the fuel and gear i need for a week in that thing.yes they are ugly and only an owner can love.and its not that bad on gas but there is maintenance but if you do it yourself no biggie.

I've always wanted to go on a horseback hunt....but most for most of that is just not a realistic option. so my vote goes for a quad.

picked up my argo for 4 grand with tracks, winch, heater, soft top, about the price of a decent used quad,if it wasnt the argo then a the new polaris razer side by side
