Horse or Quad or Jeep. Witch would u want ?

I took the story at face value,if it is not true,oh well.
But why would a mule attack a dead animal?.:p

Must have been making sure before he let it get tied to his back.:D

Hounds are rewarded with getting a taste of their quarry after it is dispatched too. Quite the scene to watch.

Wayne Carlton hunts with Mules. Spoke to him about them a few years ago and he really likes them. Even taught them to lie down while he gets on them and then they will stand at his command.

I'm not a big fan of horses...there's no gain in having two brains making bad decisions:D

:agree:
Two brains + no steering wheel = bad news for me!

I get some pretty long stares from other hunters when I'm out cruisin' cutblocks for game in my VW Scirocco. It makes my day when I'm 40k up some logging road in three inches of mud and I meet guys on quads who stop to stare untill I'm out of sight. They're freezin their butts off in the pouring rain whilst I sit on a leather seat with premium sound.

Goes places quads can't and has heat, I've even been some places you wouldn't get a horse to go willingly either

Horse ownership/maintenance is even more demanding than marriage on one's time. (Don't get me wrong. I love horses and I like to ride.)

Argo is cool but you better have a buddy with another one for retrieval when things go wrong because you can get "way back in" where you would have to hire a sikorsky to get it back to the trailer.

With a Quad you will get it home by way of another guy with a quad because you won't be across 3 lakes and a swamp. And you can plow your driveway when the @#@###$ snowblower doesn't work.

Argo's definately need a winch and a land anchor (pullpal for instance) so you can hopefully get them unstuck when the inevitable happens.

I like my prowler better than all mentioned. Room for a animal in the back or supply's and will go almost anywhere.Plus it does not have a mind of it's own so it does what it's told.

I would love to go on horse back for elk. I have a quad now and love it, shot lots of game while using the quad. As I get older and my bones fell the cold more, I am seriously thinking of a small suv type machine like a Jeep, toyota pick up, Suzuki or something along that line.

I'd love to experience hunting on horseback, at least once, but to have a horse entails a kind of life that isn't available to me.

Even a quad is, for me, too expensive to buy, and too much trouble to own and to store when not out hunting, but if I could, I'd like to have one of those, too.

However, my Jeep, (a Cherokee,) although it's too big to go into lots of places a horse or quad could, gets me close enough to walk in to enough places to hunt, and it serves as the car I'd need anyway for daily life. So it's my choice by default.

And it'll carry a mountain bike. Maybe I'll take one of those along next season.

If money/time was no object, I'd take a horse, hands down. But since I don't want to spend the money or time on a horse, I have a GMC Tracker. It can fit down pretty tight trails, and I can (and did) fold down the rear seats, throw a deer in the back, and haul it out of the woods. It's more versatile than a Jeep, and can go almost as many places as a quad, if I want it to.

I also have a DR650 street-and-trail bike that I've done a fair bit of hunting trips on. Street and trail bikes are great at some things - they can go 95% of the places a quad can, and you can get there without having to use a trailer - but if you shoot something big (moose, deer, bear) you have to go back and get a truck to haul it, and it's also a pain in the backside to haul a long gun on a motorcycle without breaking it down, which makes it pretty much impossible to get a shot off in a hurry.

I think the best vehicle would be a Suzuki Samurai. It can carry all the gas you need, fit in a 4-wheeler trail, and doesn't need to be trailered.
