when i close the cylinder on my revolver, the wheel will spin clockwise many clicks if it is spun, but not counter clockwise. i'm assuming this is not normal?

also, how does one remove a bullet stuck down the bbl?

thanks

The cylinder has a ratchet that will only allow it to rotate in one direction. It is supposed to be that way. Usually clockwise but some makes are the opposite.

The best way to remove a bullet stuck in the barrel is with a brass range rod. The best one should be just a bit smaller than the barrel and made of brass. Put the brass rod down the barrel until it touches the bullet & tap it with a hammer until it hopefully comes out.

Good luck.

What make is your revolver - most should not rotate in either direction unless the hammer is partially cocked back.
For stuck bullets - i've loaded a squib or two i carry a 1 ft piece of 5/16" hardwood dowel in my range box.

The cylinder usually only spins in one direction when released, although a single action can be altered to spin in either direction for ease of loading.

Before I discovered wax bullets, now and again I would occasionally get a bullet stuck in the barrel when I shot indoors. My solution was to fill the length of the barrel behind the bullet with water and fire a primer over it. The primer creates little pressure and the water is not compressible so more often than not the bullet drops out on the floor. I have stuck them hard enough though to where I have had to repeat the procedure several times to get it to work. I have done this with both revolvers and pistols with no ill effects whatsoever, and there is no chance of damaging the crown or bore. If you insist on pounding out the bullet, a wood dowel of the correct diameter might be a better choice than a metal rod, particularly if a soft metal drift like brass is not available.

Get a length of steel rod from Home Depot a little smaller than diameter of barrel.
Put a wrap of duct tape around rod to not scratch insode of barrel.
Insert in barrel and tap with hammer, bullet will pop out.

(Next time make sure to load powder in case)
