I guess the title says it all, to clarify - Can you pop rivet a prohib capacity glock magazine down to 10-rounds? Any have any or see it done?

As long as it can only handle 10 rounds when it is done, you are good.

Little more than that I think. Has to be done in some form of a more permanent way.

I think sticking a dowel of a certain size in the mag for instance, may not be enough. At least not for many other types of magazines. A Glock mag, good luck getting the baseplate off without the right tool, so probably OK.

I think any punch does the trick.

If you need a tool to remove whatever is capping the mag it's considered permanent. Shotguns are a diff. story tho (reason is obvious).

Thats interesting, so a really weak pin can be put in place and you'd be legal, might be nice to have some *high cap mags* in case SHTF. I always thought the pin had to be permanently affixed in the magazine though.

Okay, so I'm not crazy then. I have heard of pop rivets being used, similar to what is done with AR mags. These 10 rounders are killing my thumbs, and seating the mag requires more effort than it should. Really adds to my times when I have to hit them in so hard that I have to readjust my grip!

I was wondering if doing a little sanding on the inside walls might help. I'm not looking to increase my capacity here! Just want to make things a little easier!

Anyone got any pics of this riveting on a pistol mag? I've seen 'pinching' done on the S&W 5900 series mags, that apparently is permanent enough.

Rivets are fine by the rcmp, sort of an understanding. Technical specs as per regs. are funny though; brazzing, epoxy, rods etc... no mention of rivets. Either way, it's understood. Cross the line and your in trouble.

I was thinking of the 32 round body mags I had, the baseplate is secured by two protrusions that snap into the sides of the magazine body where you have to squeeze the very bottom of the mag body enough to slide the baseplate off. I couldn't do it by hand.

The pop rivet is legal, that's how the 17rd'ers are done.
