Anyone have any links or suggestions as to how I to strip the paint on a Norinco M4 and do it up with my own paint job (that's hopefully better)?

My M4 isn't painted and has a good finish out of the box.

Is yours painted like the old CQ311?

If its got paint on it I'd strip it off and use the High temp engine paint (VHT in matte black) - that's what I did on my CQ311 and it turned out very nice and durable.

Only need degrease the parts and apply Duracoat, very easy to use and 150 color choice. 4 oz. is enough for 1 - 4 rifle.

If you have compressor you can use airbrush or spray gun or if you have nothing use Preval Aerosol disposable Sprayer.

Duracoat : 24.95 $ + Preval 18 $ = 42.95 $ and you have a very nice finish.

Mine is a colour and texture match (both finishes feel the same) to my Armalite lower, no complaints about finish here.

you could also try interstrip 299E...... doesn't take long to eat into most painted finishes. removed baked on krylon..... 7 layers of it, from an m14 barrelled action within 1/2 hour of applying. removed with a soft brush and rag then scrubbed down with solvent wash... laquer thinner would be excellent too. I have also used this to remove thick epoxy based paints as that is this products main use. marketted by interlux

I just striped and duracoated a norc m4. The whole gun is painted including the plastic, and the inside of the reciever. I found the best way to stip the paint was lacquer thinner , the original paint comes of easily.

So if the upper and lower are aluminum, has anyone tried polishing/buffing theirs to a chrome like finish? Something I was pondering, but itll only work if the receivers arent pitted/poorly cast. I know Dracoat makes a clear coat too...just a thought.
