The best shot you ever made

Great stories guys!

I dont have anything on some of these stories...

Best throw, rock at about 40 yards, seagull fling right to left, nailed it right in the head, it started puking in the air then died...i was about 12. Couldnt believe it...

Best shot, standing, offhand, 5+mph wind gusts, scope at 6X BRNO #5, Gopher at 145 paces (no range finder) square in the eye....called a head shot on him, when he went down I just knew it...

Its path of descent came in between us, and hit the rear window in his 70 Chev pickup, shattering the glass into the cab.
I will never forget the look on his face....and he did not say a word, just shook his head.

That is awesome.. I could just imagine the look on my dad's face, i would be running :)

Been really racking the brain and can't think of any on game. Few epic misses though.

Best shots, hitting about a 1/4 oz sinker 4 times in a row with my crossman pump pellet gun when I was 12. The sinker was hanging from the phone line.

With all the deer that I've shot over the years I have to be honest and say the best shot I ever made was: A starling that I shot when I was 16 at around 120 yds with my brothers Crappy Tire Lakefield Mossberg 64G .22 semi auto with a Tasco 4X. Nobody was more surprised than me when it dropped out of the tree stone dead.

This is of a shot that (thankfully) didn't hit. I was standing up on a hill near a lake, and my hunting buddy and I were taking a break from bird hunting. We heard this slapping sound coming from the far distance, and when I looked in my bino's , there was a beaver at about 350 yards swimming around and slapping its tail on the water when it dove down. I always carry slugs when hunting with a shotgun (just in case.....lots of bears where I hunt) and my buddy bet me 20 bucks I couldn't put a slug within 10 feet of the beaver. I wanted the 20 bucks but didn't want to actually kill the beaver. Knowing it is an impossible shot, I said 20 if I win, 5 if I lose. Bet on!!!
I had a single shot break action rossi 12 guage, with a bead front sight. I just lobbed in the slug and It (honest to god) hit within an inch or 2 of the beaver. I freaked out a little, because I thought I hit it, and was going to jail. As soon as the slug hit the water next to him, he disappeared for about 30 seconds. .............30 LONG seconds. Then he reappeared at the other end of the lake. I took the 20 bucks and vowed never to try a dumbass shot like that, impossible shots sometimes aren't all that impossible. My buddy still talks about that shot, whenever we are at parties, and gets the same reaction from everyone......."Oh yeah...BS" then he spends the next 20 minutes trying to convince everyone he is not full of $hit.

Doe season muzzleloader, raining sitting in a row of bush overlooking a field big fat doe comes out mid field ,getting about middle field flicked up the second blade of the express sights on the 58 cal kodiak rifle held just in front of her breast bone she was in a trot squeased off a shot the 610 mini hit with a smack fell dead on the spot mini went in one side and out the other 167 yds GPS with two buds watching. From your grammar and spelling, it would appear you went to school with Gatehouse....:D

Does it make you feel like a man to kill a cat?

You f**king dickhead!

you clearly have no clue how much of a negative impact cats have on small game. cats belong inside or on a leash in your yard. as soon as they are allowed to venture in the bush, they are fair game. :ar15:

my best shot was my avatar pic with my exomax crossbow. 38 yards and i was standing with no rest at all. aimed for the eye and caught it with one blade.

War Story

The Bn was training at Hunter Ligget in the states for workup training to go to Croatia In '93.
Two days before while being a number two on a .50 Cal browning I had cut my small finger off while trying to clear an hard obstruction on a night shoot. And that Fine American hosiptal had sewed it back on that very night. I was however on some mighty fine pain killers that did impair my hand to eye coordination a tad.
Well for me to go to Croatia and to complete the training I HAD to do a long range target POP up range. I managed to talk the range staff in letting me attempt it knowing that i was screwed.
The short and long of it was that I hit every target from 100 meters out to 600. However I couldn't hit the target that was 25 meters in front of me. The range staff were looking at me like I was some kind of Idiot Savant. LOl
And yeah I know i should not have even tried it with regards to firearms safety and all but it was different days and I wanted Croatia so bad I could taste it.

You f**king dickhead!

Shot plenty of cats in my leg hold traps that were set for tree line fox and coyote.
Seems like many city folks want to give their unloved cats a good home in the country, and just dump them by the nearest barn.
They don't realize what happens to feral cats when let loose to the wild.
They will be shot, found in traps or worse,.. run over by trucks and cars, we've all seen them dead by the road side.

Far as best shots, there have been plenty.
I'd say a few of my most memorable were double's on wild flushing grouse, triples on ducks and geese, and some really nice shots on deer.:D

Don't have a problem with people shooting feral cats or dogs.

But when you "squeal with glee" after shooting one, something's not right upstairs.
People who enjoy killing are not right in the head

I've hunted all my life and I've never "squealed with glee" when I've shot anything.:D

I would "squeal with glee" if I ever met the fellow who enjoyed killing people's pets.

That is after I clubbed him over the head with a 5 iron.;)

No Cats

No Cats here but I have shot a Mallard way out there just to find out it lands in the boat with us!

Another time a pair of ducks flush from beside the logging road as we approach a field of geese. I bag one at 20-25 yards, not too hard but the funny part was I only had time to but 2 rounds in the gun before they flushed and used both on the first duck. As I'm loading the mate starts to circle and the 3 other hunters (All with rifles) are asking why I'm waiting. The Mallard passes over the road and Bang! I tell them, go and get my duck now.

A friend of mine has made two shots now on ducks flying into the sun, he was blinded, fired and downed each one. This was at different time of course. Funniest part was one was shot and downed on the last of three rounds. I still can't figure out how he missed the first two time at closer range and then downs it at 45-50 yards blinded by the sun.

Another boat store is a friend buy's a basset hound for a hunting dog (I know great choice). Takes it out duck huntingin the boat the first time and manages to shoot a goose. Well doesn't it land in the boat on the dam dog. Dog never wanted to go in the boat ever again!

Mine was a standing 180yard uphill shot with an 06 on my best mulie to date. My second best was the same year with a 7mm-08 I got my whitetail doe at about 180 yards with a standing shot...Shot lots of rounds that year at the range in the off season at our 200 yard gong free hand and it payed off for me.
