I'm actually less geared up for turkey this year than prior years because I am so looking forward to some action shooting, once my ATT comes in.

I'll still go out, but I'm not overly concerned (lol, this will probably be the year I catch something)

Cranked and practicing with your fine call!!!! I think the neighbours believe we have a flock of turkeys now.

Hey! How did the willow hold up with the humid BC weather?
If you get a chance send me a pic of that call since the only ones I have were taken with a crap HP camera or else film that I had to scan. Situation remedied since with a Nikon DSLR;)
I see you are a Super Moderator! Does that mean you can sticky us a contest?

I've been practicing with the call I won last year grnhawg! Works and sounds fantastic. Can't wait to get out. I will bow out of the contest this year, if you have one, and let some others get a kick at the can. I will still post pics and stories though.

I'm scheduled for the Turkey course on Saturday, 2nd May. The WMU where our cottage lot is located is open to Sunday hunting and having its first Turkey season ever. I plan to be there the next morning

I just picked up some camo, calls, a ported turkey choke, a second box of shells and an introductory video on Turkey hunting to get me started until the course.

I think I'll be using the choke in my synthetic stocked Savage 24 (22 Hornet over 12ga). I was thinking of my 12.5" Grizzly with Ghosts sights as another option, but I think I'll try the ported choke through the Savage first before firing it right in front of my face, lol!

If turkey fails, I'll bring some pigeon and crow decoys and have sighted in my .223 for groundhogs and other varmints (I have to cross the Severn River to shoot coyotes). This really adds some interesting hunting into the regular mix!

I can't seem to get drawn for turkeys.

I'll have to make do with spring bear instead.

Post pics and stories after the hunts, guys!

Im not sure if your allowed to use a 22 over 12 gauge gun, not sure. But your only allowed #4,5,6 shot so a game warden might not like you having the 22 over the 12.

Best be making a call to MNR on that.
7.62! No need to be doing any baling out I'd be more than happy to have to deliver ya another call;);)

I do not hunt turkeys....Probably that is why I see so many of the friggin things when i am out at work....Yesterday, I counted 70 in one flock (it is a flock, right?)... and they casually walked from one field, across the road, behind my truck, ( I was sitting in the truck on the side of the road) into another field.
There seems to be a good supply for the season....

Rimfire in BC is legal for turkeys.LH

I have heard this before and I have been looking everywhere I can think of for the legalities of rimfire/center fire/shotgun for turkeys and cannot find it anywhere.

Where can I find this info that says we cannot use center fire in BC for turkey hunting?

I'm packing up right now and leaving in a couple of hours for my first prospecting trip of the year thru the Kootenay's, Alberta then back thru Golden/Revelstoke.

I have my 17HMR ready to use as my turkey gun but would take my 18.5" T/C Contender carbine barrel in 10mm if it was legal too use.
