I just figured it out - that's the range clearer model.

That's not a brake on there - it's got a plug welded in the end and those vents redirect the pellets back to the left and right of you.

It's for days when you don't want people firing off magnums at the bench on either side of you

Put something new on it that is totally useless and maybe you can get someone to buy another one from you that they don't even need.
