Gunkote made to look like Parkerizing?

HI, guys, I'm thinking about building a m40 clone and using a Gaillard barrel, so stainless only. It should be parkerized to look right. but that's not going to work. Can I use a spray on coating to reproduce parkerizing...or should I find a CM barrel? thanks

There's a KG guncoat distributer in Nova Scotia, the problem is that it's classed as a hazordous material and shipping cost a fortune. I was just quoted over $100 for a 16oz can of flat black.

I know you're talking about the M40, but unless you're set on using a painted on finish, the stainless barrels on the M40a1's were coated in black oxide. You might want to try that??

Might want to check out Fabsports ,they list all the colours and if memory serves, there is a colour called Parker as well as many others.They don`t stock all the product but will get it in for you.

My mistake ,they sell Duracoat....pretty much the same product.

Dont' know where you are but when I had Barry at Bits of Pieces Gunkote my Winchester M70 he sandblasted it, parkerised it and then applied Gunkote. It gives it a nice matte finish. Just sandblasting and Gunkote should give a similar result.

But I suspect Gun Kote would work better. I just did up a 1911 mixing grey and black and it looks very close, if not identical to parkerizing.
