i recently emailed "the shooting edge" located in calgary alberta. i informed them of a $3000 purchase i had recently made and told them i'd like another in a different caliber.

this was my answer:Sorry can't help you with that.

not being pleased with their response i emailed them back:that is a pretty vague response which does not tell me anything at all...are they unavailable, do u not carry that brand anymore, why can u not help me with that? i am very disappointed, i would hope ur response for someone who spent 3000 bucks would be a tad more informative. did u notice there were 2 rifles in question? i hope customer service is better than this...

there was no further reply from "the shooting edge". all i have to say is next time i buy anything it obviously will not be from these guys....

i am u have had instances where customer service left much to be desired....time to vent, who does this award belong to?

Oh the shooting edge, what a place. Between the mall ninjas that showed up wanting to "touch a glock", and the clowns behind the counter with their empty leg holsters (maybe someone can explain to me why they wear them) cooing over a broad that showed up, all while ignoring me when I was blatantly standing at the front of the counter, prepared to drop a whole pile of money on ammo...

I took my business elsewhere. I thought Wholesale was bad, but after going there, it only affirms my belief that mall ninjas are about as smart as a hoover vacuum cleaner.

If you receive bad service, demand better. If you do not get better service, let them know you will not be doing business with them.

I had bad service in an e-mail once dealing with P&D for the first time (I know now that they are very busy, however I didn't know that at the time)
I wanted pricing and availability on a fair selection of ammunition in a certain calibre. Their reply was we have that caliber ranging from $ - $.
I sent an email back stating.

"Do you want to try and fill my request again, maybe with a little effort this time.

Thank you"

The second reply was much more informative and I made a purchase substantial enough to make it worth their time.
I have since done more business with them and will continue to in the future, however if my second e-mail had been ignored well......

As far as who has BAD service WSS Calgary gets my vote

Lever Arms.

I second that. They would not even replace or credit me on the dented mag they sold me with a NIB SWMP45. Months and months of asking. They will never see a dime of business. It sucked when Allan Lever owned it and it still sucks under Kin.

I find TSE to be top notch and will buy from them!

I found Jeremy (I think that was the name?) at Lever very helpful.
During a purchase, something got written down wrong, and I was overcharged. I called later and he was very apologetic and willing to correct it for me.

LOL yeah pretty amateur. I've had similar experiences at Rona (not with guns of course, but workers lap dogging married chicks with baby in a stroller while ignoring everyone else). Pretty sad, but that's life.

on-ca.

Believe it or not, I've had great service from Wholesale, especially since they opened the new store in Calgary. The trick is to go when its not busy.

Russels and Pro line have also been great.

Can't forget P and D. They helped me out a couple years ago.

Wholesale sports sucks in the customer service department, mostly they are a bunch of snot nosed teenagers that don't have a frikkin' clue. If it doesn't have a manufacturer number they can punch into a computer, they are totally lost.

The Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire sporting goods departments are in a dead heat for me. And I ain't kidding.

LOL.... These two are bad for any customer service sporting goods or not. I have had good and bad experiences at almost every gun store I have ever been in (Vancouver BC) and a few of the online ones as well. Mostly they are good but every once and awhile you get some loser with no PR skills working behind the counter.

When frustrated I have remarked from time to time that if some of the sales people working in gun stores worked any where else they would be fired or starve. :) But mostly I am pretty happy with the service I get.

After dumping about $1800 at Bass Pro (the service on my first 3 visits was superb!) I went back to check out their rangefinders. I asked the fellow at the counter what the difference was between the feature sets of 2 that were in the same price range. His response was to take them out of the cabinet, say "have a look for yourself and figure it out", and then looked past me to the guy standing behind me and start to serve him!!!

OMG was I pissed off!! Everything that my wife, son and I had picked out went right back to the shelves and we left.

I have had bad service in places before, but this went so far beyond "bad" that it would take one hell of a good sale for me to go back there again.

When dealing with Canadian retailers you have to remember that it's a privilege to be in their store and have someone serve you. With that mindset you will be better off!

+ 1 to M12SHOOTER, I think lot of these people look like our life depends on them, some store got excellent service, ususally, I have deal with P&D ,EPP'S, Rayn'er SHINe, Wolverines and Williams with excellent service. I froze when I had to deal with Gobles and the tone of is answer, B&L sporting goods in MTL who laugh at me because of my family name( LÉPINE ) and the top connaisseur of LeBaron/Sail who keep telling people that the best rifle caliber for big game you can buy, even if you asked them for something different , is 30-06 and .270W. Try to find a .280 Remington in MTL area and all the counter clerck will look at you like if you come from another planet.

But look, most of these store under payed there staff, and put the first one they found who want to work at that salary. I think family owned businnes is usually better.

I'll have to jump in here and provide a counter point. All my major purchases in the last year have come from TSE. All my dealings with them have been topnotch. I bought a firearm from them and encountered a minor warranty issue with the finish on the bolt. I PM'd redleg here on CGN and explained my problem. He didn't even blink, had me ship the bolt back to them and said he would send out a new one. Great I thought, it will be a couple of weeks before I get it. But to my surprise them new bolt was at my door in two days from my initial contact with redleg. He didn't even look at my old bolt, hell it wasn't even to Calgary, before he shipped out the new bolt.

I have ordered stuff over the phone and had it arrive with the proper items in a very timely matter (as in they shipped it the same day I ordered it).

They only problem I ever had was it was crowded one day when I made a special trip to Calgary to pick up a shotgun, I phoned before hand to double check the availability and was told they were in stock. When I got there 4 hours later I found out they only had the display model left, so I ended up with the display gun that had been handled, racked and dry fired by everyone and their dog, but I got good service from the guy helping me and got a few boxes of slugs for my troubles.

Every shop or dealer on this board has had bad days when things don't go their way and the customer service suffers, but I say put yourself in their position and see how you deal with the stress. :)

I do not hesitate to shop at TSE and hope the rest of you stay away so its not so crowded ever time I go there :D

Also, the reason those guys are wearing their holster is because they are also Range Officers, when they're not supervising on the range they are helping behind the counter.
