I have one, Tried to sell it & could not unload it for what I wanted.I know traditionally this is a hunting round but Historically made for the US Army
Question is, what can this thing do, I'm keeping it now & just wondering if you guys got some specs & some Pet loads that have worked for you, please dont just right stuff right out of the reloading manual as I have most of them, I need some real experience here! So lets not let this turn into a thread about WHAT"S BETTER ROUND Cause that is not the Help I need. I know there is better but this is what I'm keeping. Thanks in advance guys!!!!

Maybe try the reloading or the hunting forum as nobody uses the 30-378 for competition or ultra-precision shooting.

+1

Most guys look past Weatherbys due to recoil, high initial price, expensive components and general mediocre paper results.

The hunting forum or another board might have more information. I'd recommend www.longrangehunting.com for more loading info.

Stoke it with 210/208 gr VLD's and on up to 240gr MK's. You should be able to exceed the RUM by 150 to 200fps. LR reach will be yours but accuracy is may be not ideal but more then adequate.

Big recoil, big cost, big speed....VERY SHORT barrel life.

Enjoy. But do think about what you would like to rebarrel next to :)

Yes I have one as well that averages about 2 rounds a year, and infact has had the VX III stold off I for a different gun.

I like them , lots of Horse powder Have killed a few animals with it, But would want a heavy gun to launch at 1000 y plus tagets.

Brass is dear, and primer pockets do not last long, at 110.00 grains of powder 60 loads per Lbs.... ya its a brute, but a 300 wm wil do what it will do as far as I am concerned, but if you like to burn powder the 30-378 is for you
