I truly hope that Dlask is not reproducing any Smith Enterprises Inc Vortex Flash Eliminators .If he is he will most likely have a very long and expensive court battle looming ahead of him.
As for your claims that it is a US Companies fault that we are not getting the cool goods for our rifles that is Horsesh$t. Look past your nose it is a problem that is entirely controlled by the Government .I have talked to many suppliers about this at Shot Show over the years there problem is getting US government export approvals and permits as it now adds significant costs to the products they wish to sell to us making it unpalatable for them
As westicle has stated...... dlask has been producing vortex flash hiders for many..... many years. If Ron Smith had any issues with this...... the court battles would have started years ago.
I know for a fact that you can not simply call up a dealer in the u.s. and order away..... for one to assume so would be naiive. For the average consumer to say order up a Smith Enterprises Vortex flash hider and have it imported........ I would love to see verification and documents showing that this is being done right now..... anyone? ?
It's true, ATR has smith ent stuff that IS importable by jumping through the right hoops but i've never heard of anyone aquiring DC vortexes from them..... anyone??
Ron Smith, od Smith Enterprises , himself has stated to me repeatedly over the phone that he would love to be able to crack the canadian market but it is non cost productive to do so given the "current" export regulations that must be met.
It is downright silly for us all to be debating this anyways.... the consumer decides I suppose. I will trod on, supporting canadian businesses , it's up to them to be aware of patent enfringement and I am not gonna sit there and debate nor dictate the morality of it.
Joe Dlask cloned the 1911....... do you want to piss on him for that too ?
I should add here as a footnote..... For several years I was the head manager of purchasing and marketting for a large, chain store, sporting goods and marine supply retailer.
6 times a year i was flown to conventions in the U.S. , Shot show once, Worldwide distributors, many many times. A WorldWide distributors convention is HUGE, much like a shot show but with many other hunting and fishing products represented.
I got to know some good folks from Knights Armament, Armalite, Springfield Armory, Kimber pistols, STI .... and the list goes on. I am Very aware of the export stipulations and regulations these companies live under. Many of them wish it was not this way and often question what the meaning of free trade is when thier government closes the doors on starving markets. They want to do business with us but it's just not profitable to do so.
I'll shut up now hehehe
