anybody guess what this is?

cost?
dunno yet i have to finish the one to guage the cost involved
time frame dunno either as its still in the prototype phase but start saving now my best guess is anywhere from 1200 to 1500 bucks, have to see if i can get a deal on some barrel blanks to use
how many do you think i can sell?

well there may be a change in mags used, think aia enfield ten rounders or accuracy international 10 rounders to add to you already watering mouths

rifle is designed with all the nasty bits that the state dept wont export, nato chambers, flash hiders and maybe even a side folding skeleton stock and you know me i like bull barrels and enormous gas blocks. lol

I have lots of questions (sorry, but you post on CGN you gotta expect it).

1)What type of material you using on the lower? I assume billet aluminum? What grade? What finish?
2)How are you going about broaching the mag well?
3)Are you modding AR180 uppers to 7.62? If so, how are you dealing with the different dimensions?
4) Lets hear your thoughts on mag release location.

Sorry for all the questions but I love threads like this:redface:. I love to see ingenuity.

Edit: I think you are very optimistic on the $1500 retail....you'd be lucky to make money at double that price.

yes billet aluminum 6061 t6 finish anodized or maybe gunkote
milling the mag well for this one
no that wont work as its too small and too short for 308
mag release is g3 paddle style but mag dependant

Good on ya - tagged for interest. I have loads of other questions but I'll wait for you to reveal more of your project first.

maybe you guys can help me with some parts, i need a take of barrel in 308 reasonably heavy doesnt matter what its from but cheap is good and an aia mag to test fit or im gonna order an accuracy international mag and use that if i cant get an aia mag

i totally love this kinda stuff.... very cool.

will be watching your pogress with anticipation ;)
are you aiming to have it as a non restricted?
i would seriously be in the market should this make it to retail

With all the layout die on that thing, we may have to change the title of this Forum to Black and Blue Rifles.

Ahem, anyway, the main advantage of 6061 alloy over 7075 is that 6061 is weldable, while 7075 is vitually unweldable. If there is no welding to be done on your design, maybe go with the increased strength of 7075?

And best of luck with your project. We need more Canadian gun makers, and wiht the US being so uncooprerative, now is the perfect time.
