Well, we running a turkey contest or not?

Went and patterned my 10 ga Sunday and swung by a buddies down the road. He said he won't be having a hard time this year cause a big Tom keeps coming up to his back porch every morning. Says the end of it's beard is one big ball from picking up burrs cause it's dragging on the ground, can't wait to see this thing.

Just thought I'd let you lucky buggers who have turkeys know....that I hate you.;)

We need them in Sask.

There's a few around the park down here, actually saw some just north of town roaming in the ditch last week. Not being a native species and having no season as such, I have no Idea what the rules for hunting them would be.

I'll throw my hat into this as well, got drawn for the first time here in Alberta. Went down to pincher creek last weekend for some scouting and seen lots of birds. Picked up a ton turkey decoy at the new BPS by calgary and some 3-1/2 winchester turkey loads that I patterned tonight. (ouch). The mossberg 835 with undertaker choke seems to like the HV brand so far. Am taking a week off work to get the job done down south, may 9-15. Hopefully I can bag a big ole Alberta tom. Will definately post pics and story even if all I git is a little one.

Still getting ready here:D:D. We're having a call seminar at my house this afternoon. We'll be going over the care, conditioning and use of different types of calls. There will also be covered in this afternoons session the art of beer drinking and food eating;);) Aptly named Callapollusa!! Anybody in driving distance is more than wellcome. I'm cooking a turkey in a trash can but you has to bring your own beer and lawn chair. Oh did I mention I'd have a for sale table:D:D
A nice redneckity Friday afternoon preseason scene

Think im going to call in sick and go back out tonight.

Seems they are always wondering around the fields at about 5-6PM

Double-header from this morning, my dad and his hunting buddy.
19 lbs 8 oz with a 10" beard on one, 19 lbs 1 oz with a 8.5" beard on the other. Old buggers have all the time in the world...

Had one at 70 yards this morning. I have a small video camera mounted on my shotgun this year. The sun was really low, and I think the lens and camera mount were glinting. The Tom got spooked from something anyways, came in on a rope, then just stopped, waited for 10 -15 seconds, turned around and gobbled his head off, 150 yards away in the bush.

Oh well, next time!

if any sponsors on the board here want to donate a prize:)..dont be shy eh:D..
