First Callapollusa held yesterday turned out a success as the rain held of till we were done eat'n. With two days left before the Ontario opener everybody was already cranked up and now so are my neigbours
. I decided to do this little session for a couple of newer hunters and also to go over conditioning calls. Well dot thinking maybe I ought to invite a few more too for some comradery and a good old fashioned Saturday afternoon beer food and call fest. I did a turkey in the trashcan and Mrs. grnhawg made tater salad. I had a big pot of my world famous baked beans but they weren't done yet at paunch time so they will have to be eaten today
. A great time was had by all and there was lots of information and calling techniques to be shared. We talked things over and there's a mighty good chance we'll do this again but in a facility with more room and less neigbours. Poor old girl just couldn't rest. At least she didn't call the cops. One of the noisiest participants was a town counciler so we had that end covered

Here's few pics of the event
Turkey basted in olive oil and cajun spice ready for the trash can
Turkey covered by the trashcan and the brickets in place and lit
Some of the first fellers to show up
All types and ages

Some of the toys on hand
Here I am showing Doug just how much better a custom call sounds than that there Old Yeller thingy
We did manage to call something in but it wasn't a turkey
. This is the roof of the poor old tired lady

Lets see if the turkey is done
Yup I think it is
Sorry Pete but you have to be tied up for the dinner portion of the program!
Food seems to be going over quite well
Doug to quite likeing to this acid burnt Tiger Maple and Walnut paddled call so I let him take her home

Fun sure was had by all and as I mentioned I'd like to do this again and perhaps put an invite to a few more folks and hold it in a bigger spot outside of town. Any body interested speak up and we can start planning for next year
