My stepdad has a non typical muley rack that was given to him.It scores 209 B/C.

I've heard from some people it's illegal and others that say no problem,so what's the scoop,we're in B.C. if that makes any differance.Personally I'd keep it myself but he's not a hunter or shooter.

There should be a permit with it...I have a permit for my mounts and I believe you are required to notify in cases of change of address. Check with the Conservation Officer Service.

You don't need a permit for deer, moose, or elk in BC. Sheep and goats need to be inspected and the CO's issue an inspection sheet for them.

In Ontario you are only allowed to sell "cast off antlers" antlers which have naturally fallen off other wise known as sheds , you are only allowed to sell one set a year , if you wish to sell more then one set you can acquire a permit to sell them i forget the name of it right now but i am sure some one can chime in on that.

when in doubt call your local fish and game or check the regulations book all of , or most of ones questions will be answered there.

I remeber reading about a guy who placed an add in the paper for some old mounts he had. Ended up being a big no no. Fine, court, the whole nine yards.
Apparetly its ok to sell the wood mount, and do something like a lift time loa of the animal head:)

What's the reasoning behind this being illegal?

Because there are alot of idiots out there that would search for BIG racked deer/moose/sheep etc, just to get $$$ for the rack and leave the meat to rot.

You shouldn't profit financially from harvesting wildlife.

Don't SELL the rack...LEASE it for 100 years. :)

Really? Do racks command that kind of a price? All I can say is that is bizarre. Thanks for the info.

Call the C.O??? for what?

like others have said GIVE the antlers to him but sell the plaque or give the the whole thing for free but charge delivery.....if you require a permit and there wasn't one given to your friend when he got them then the C.O. is going to come take them for FREE......well that's what would happen in ON.

No reason to call the C.O. at all unless your the hunter who shot the animal do fur coats come with permits??....

Crap, now you've got me thinking about what kind of paperwork I'm gonna need to get that moose rack to my buddy in Michigan.

He wants to mount and display his old Marbles knives on one but how the hell do I go about getting it to him?

I know the last time I was at the taxidermist...he wanted the tag # of the seal.
Might be a start?

Exporting cervid parts to the US...no idea.
