Well, I finally have my camp/home defense shotgun set up!

Fabarm Martial Pro Forces
-S&J Hardware Single Point Sling Mount
-Blue Force Gear SOC-C Sling
-Fabarm 10mm Recoil Pad Spacer
-Fabarm Fore End Picatinny Rail
-Streamlight TLR-1

I decided on the TLR-1 over a Fenix TK11 in a mount as I can use the TLR-1 on my M&P9 as well.

:) What do you guys think? :)
 
Very nice,

Have you decided on Ammo? I was watching 'best defense' on the outdoors channel the other day, they made some interesting points about using birdshot vs buckshot for home defense.

Please tell me they said birdshot was a bad idea...

Sure from 10 feet it will likely stop an attacker, but I wouldn't trust my LIFE on it... and isn't that really the only time you'd have to shoot?

Buck is the only option for HD, in my opinion.

Either way - nice Fabarm! Too bad I had to sell mine to help pay for my Swiss Arms CQB. :(

Well, basically what they said was not to automatically discount it.

It performs very well from 10 yards away (more than sufficient enough to cover off the inside dimensions of a house) but won't penetrate through as many walls if there are others in surrounding rooms.

It was kind of an interesting demonstration. I haven't thought tons about SG ammo for home defense, but it was a cool episode.

While I have slugs on hand, I'm a little wary of over penetration. I have 00 Buck but, again, I think over penetration might be an issue so I'm going to get some #4 Buck as I think it would work better inside my small home. I just haven't seen any around lately. I think the #2 Birdshot I have would work at the short distances in my home, but I want to put the BG down for sure with out question.

Get some scrap dry wall, insulation, siding material and 2X6s, build a test wall, then conduct some penetration tests. At typical indoor ranges I suspect any buckshot will over penetrate a typical external wall, although it might not have much energy left once it does. A sheet of rigid insulation standing behind your test wall will give you a pretty good idea of the power any pellets that exit the wall might have. If your house has brick or stucco siding it would be more forgiving than plastic or aluminum. Any shot size is a better choice than slugs for use in the home, but I would think an ounce and a half baby magnum load of BB's would be pretty fearsome when fired from a dozen feet. I've seen it work on a polar bear, so it should be no less effective on a 200 pound bad guy.
