Bought my Savage Mark II FS 2 weeks ago and it's been taunting me every day since, Been waiting for the Steve Johnson Range to open up for a weekday trip but no go and today i finally gave up waiting and hunted down the location of the Homestead range West of Calgary.

So Anyway, Get there in my little front wheel drive Matrix (barely on some parts because of the snow covering alot of areas) But when i finally arrive i was the only one at the public range. I walked from the parking area to the surprisingly nice bench's they have there. First things first i go tape a target paper to one of the boards (25yards - ish) and go back and take my rifle out and start loading up. I fired only 100 rnds 50 of Blazer and 50 of wildcats. All fed and fired flawlessly.

I was having trouble getting my scope adjusted properly and after 30 rounds i realised the scope is only being held on by 1 scope ring, (it moved forward) and of course not having a flat head screwdriver i just hand tightened them as much as i could and kept checking after each shot.

Eventually got it aligned properly and did a 10 round grouping all of which easily covered up by a penny.

So i'm happy i finally got to shoot, and cant wait to get back.

I didn't have a camera otherwise i would have taken pictures.

Thanks for listening:) :dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

It started out as being mounted on both.. but like i said it moved forward. I didn't realise they had to be that tight, so they were only hand tight.

Like the front ring slide off the rail or something?

IN any case, always a good idea to carry a tool kit in the range bag, I learned this early on :)

yea, because I only had it hand tight, and i shot 40 rounds it was enough for the "jaws" to loosen on the scope ring mounts and slide the scope forward on the gun's grooves. So either I get to the gym and work on my pincher grip for hand tightening things or i get the loctite and a screwdriver:) but yeah For my first shoot i was quite happy.. still got a smile on my face from it. Screwdriver is in my range kit now too.
