Hey guys, anyone know how long the wait should be to get the CFSC papers after doing the exam? Pretty sure the instructor said it's usually a week or so?

I did my exam on the 6th of April. Instructor said he'd sent the exam to the CFO the next day...still nothing in the mailbox :(

I know the wait is at least 28 days once I submit my actual license application but how long should the wait time be at the Ontario CFO validation stage?

I need to have my PAL for a job (condition of employment) and this waiting around is unbelievable! I fully support licensing firearm owners and stuff, but the way the process looks to a non-owner is waaay different than it is in practice.

If you really need it ASAP. Then call the CFO to get them going on it. I did my RPAL course last May, and didnt get the license until late september. And only after calling them to get them going. My buddy, did the course at the same time, didnt get his until December and that was only after calling them to wake em up. Tell em you need it for work and it should be done much sooner. Pretty much it depends on how motivated they are. So motivate them!

Yeah, instructor said within a week to me too but it took 3 weeks.

Just mailed out all my forms to NB via registered mail. I should have just used a stamp but I want to make sure it actually arrives. $8 wasted? I'll never know.

Here's a quote from the info package that the Ontario CFO sends to instructors when they order exams/books:

Please advise your students that the processing time for their CAFC332 Forms may take up to FOUR (4) WEEKS. This time frame includes delivery to and from the FSESO by Canada Post. If after the four weeks, the student has not received their paperwork, they may call the office to inquire as to the status of their paperwork. Your cooperation in this matter is very much appreciated.

It looks like some instructors may not be reading the blaze orange sheets in the packages they receive from the CFO...

In my students' experience it seems to usually take just under 28 days to get their forms back (I send course results via ExpressPost within a day or two of the course). Apparently they process about 1000 forms a week. This means that about 50,000 Ontario residents a year are now subjected to a 4 week delay in getting their PAL that doesn't occur for citizens of any other province. If you're not happy with this additional redtape, let the Premier and your MPP know!

It took nine days for the CFO to return the course reports (test results) to me.

My instructor said if they weren't delivered within 3 weeks to call them.

The waiting game is a huge part of enjoying firearms in Canada! I wouldn't hold my breath for any speculated time frames.

Welcome to the waiting game in Ontario, my test came back in 2 weeks, but it seems they will delay everything to the max. All in an effort to piss you off out of firearms.

Use the time to save for ammo, your first purchace, reading through the CSSA website, the NFA website...arm yourself with knowledge!

Good luck om speeding up the process. I would not count on getting your PAL sooner that 10 weeks.

Do not mean to rain on your parade, but 10 weeks is the best case scenario.

Isn't there something one can include with their application to speed up the process for those needing thr licence for employment?

I swear I read something about it on Gunnutz.

I must have forgot to update the thread...

I called them on Wednesday and talked to them nicely. I explained the situation and they were very helpful...needless to say, I got my results yesterday and mailed off the application to N.B.
I'll have to wait the required waiting period still but I was pretty much told that unless I have "issues" with my application, it WILL be processed within a month.

In summary: I took the tests on the April 6th and had the Ontario CFO verified results in my hand on the 30th.
