Glock 17 or Beretta 92F

I own both (well a Taurus which is an incredible Beretta copy) and the Glock is where it's at. The Beretta is heavy and cumbersome. The locking block breakage issue with the Beretta is not fun. Don't get me wrong, the Beretta is a great firearm but I prefer Glock.

Eh, maybe. Locking block issues start cropping up at around 15,000 round or so if you're firing a lot of +P+ (50% or more).

I would go with a Glock, but only because I have a Beretta already (actually four, and soon five). I owned a Glock 22 for a short time and thought it was a really great gun after holding off for a long time. I sold it, but miss it and plan to try and trade one of my Berettas for one soon. Glocks are a really neat gun, I like the 3rd Gen the best. When I shot my Beretta 96 and Glock 22 (both .40S&W) the Beretta shot better, but that was probably due to my being used to the Beretta grip.

PS, That Brignoli place in Italy also sells locking blocks.

The Beretta if you plan on doing some dental work on yourself with the slide as the lugs shear off and send it flying at your face.

"You are not a navy seal until you have tasted Italian steel" is what I though when I first saw this thread.

Go Glock. Cheaper mags and parts are everywhere. You get used to the grip...

I've owned both as my 9mm pistols. The Beretta M9 and Glock 17 are premium 9mm's

Beretta M9
Glock 17
HK USP
Sig P226

Any other 9mm is just second class.

Detective John McClane carries a 92, that says it all! I have a 92FS and I've put a lot of rounds through the Glock. The 92 is much prettier, much nicer fit and finish (mine is Italian, don't know if that makes a difference) Reliability is awesome on both. Don't make your decision until you've looked at the SIG. I just bought a 229 and I'm way more accurate with it than the ugly plastic Glock or the beautiful Beretta.

As was noted earlier, any and all post 1989 production berettas cannot physically detach to strike the user in the face. There has not been a single reported case in two decades with hundreds of thousands of berettas shooting millions of rounds loaded hotter then normal SAAMI specifications in the US military.

It's about as likely nowadays as the glock slide coming off the frame to strike the user in the face.
