Has anyone had good luck with 100gr partitions? I worked up a few loads with them using H414 and IMR 4831. The accuracy was about 1.5 MOA but the loads were lacking velocity (about 2800 fps).

I'm shooting an A-bolt with a 1 in 10" twist. I might try the 95gr partition or maybe the 85 gr TSX. Not a fan of the ballistic tip bullets.

Anyone have some pet loads cooked up for the 100gr partition?

I have shot a lot of 95 & 100 Partitions over the years out of various 6mm Remington [usually at about 3150 fps] I have never had any problem getting them to shoot sub-moa in any 6mm. I would try IMR 4831, Reloder 22, or H4831 in your 243 with the 95 or 100 Partition. Max load should yield 3000 or so. Regards, Eagleye.

I think I was getting about 2900 with 100 gr Partitions ahead of 42 grs of IMR 4350. Some time has passed since I messed with the Partitions in this rifle because I'm not a fan of 6mms for big game. Approach this load cautiously. I see the maximum loads in some of the newer manuals is lower, so perhaps newer lots of powder are slightly faster. If I was going to load this combination today I would start at 38 grs and work up in one grain incriments to ensure nothing has changed.

I have my notes in front of me. This is in a Ruger 77, 243 rifle, which is a very strong rifle. A beautiful Krico 243 will stick the bolt on a charge the Ruger digests without a slighest burp.
I was using Sierra 100 grain bullets, which will likely interchange with Nosler partition. Haven't tried it in 243, but every other calibre I have tried Nosler in, they interchange, same charge, as a standard bullet of the same weight.
243, 100 grain Sierra, Ruger 77 rifle, five shots chronographed, average 3069 fps.
Forgot to say, the powder was my old favourite, Norma 205! H4831 would likely do the same, if there was enough room in the case for it.
This heaviest load was also my most accurate in that rifle.

Never really found a super accurate load with them, but managed close enough to an inch with 45 grs of 7828. Nice powder, measures very accurately. Clocked at right around the 3100 mark. Not nearly as accurate as the 95 gr BAl S'Tip, but sure hits hard for a 6mm. Took a meat muley doe couple years ago, right behind the ear, almost knocked the head clean off with the 100 NP.

I just bought some Hodgdon Hybrid 100V for the .243win. Right on the Label on the Jug it says:

243Win 43.7gr 100gr Spr BTSP Win Brass Win LR primer 2.650 oal 3100fps

I worked up to 43.5 and found it to be a bit too hot for my 243win Kimber. I didn't have my crony out at the time but I'm gonna measure the actual fps soon. Accuracy with 42.5 gr was sub-moa.

243

My .243 liked the 87 and 85 gr's best. I tried 100's, but went back to the 87's. Prob. more of a personal thing than anything. I always figured the 85 or 87gr in a 243 was the caliber equivalent of a 130 in a 270 or a 180 in a 300. Just a nice balance.

Thanks for the great info. Its that time of year now for testing and working up good hunting loads and any more information would be appreciated.

Which bullet were you using? I just made up a few loads with 100gr Sierra Gamekings. I think the twist in the kimber should be the same as my A-bolt 1-10". I loaded up 41.5 42.5 and 43.5, try those and see what they can do. Good to hear some success with 100V I am hoping it will do well in my .300wsm too.
