Two new McMillan arrived today

What is this compact stock exactly? Is it just shorter lenght or is it also narrower in the belly like my Classic compact was, with a shorter internal mag box (holds one less) and a shorter trigger. I have that rifle in a Ram Line with a standard mag box right now. It deserves better but I want a slim stock.

It's the stock pictured right above your post. It has a shorter slimmer forend, a slimmer more open grip and it has the same room in the mag well as the factory stock.

The Compact it basically the Edge mold but made with "standard" construction instead of whatever they use to make the light Edge. The Edge is McMillan flagship light stock.

What's the balance like with the lighter Edge stock? Are they fairly nice, or are they a little too light in the back end? To my understanding they are approximately 50% lighter than the standard stock. Just curious on the pro/con besides the weight?

Here is a Winchester Model 70 with a Pac-Nor in the factory fwt contour in a Hunter's EDGE. The balance couldn't be better.

Good. I was just a little concerned most of the weight was dropped out of the back making the balance off. I do like them heavy out front, but there does have to be a bit in the back too or it just don't feel right. Nice rifle by the way. Now to decide if I want to wait 5 months to get one?
