I bought a Savage Model 12 LPV .223 with a 1 in 7 twist barrel. I wanted a 1 in 9 but it was unavailable. I have some (250) 60gr Nosler ballistic tip bullets and was wondering if anyone had used these with Benchmark powder and what their results were. I'm looking to punch paper and gophers out to 300 yards or so. I also have 1K of 50gr V-Max bullets, but it seems the consensus is that they will spin apart with the barrel I have.

I shoot 40gr vmax out of my 1-8 223. pretty sure your 50gr won't spin apart. but if you're that worried send them to me
if you think the bullets will spin apart just shoot them at lower velocities. try some next time you go to the range it's the best way to fing out.

I just worked up a load with the 60gr. ballisitic tips in my .223 today using H322
The nosler manual lists the benchmark as being the most accurate powder tested with the 60gr. partition, the load data also works for the ballistic tip.

I have tested Benchmark with bigger .224 bullets and it is not the powder for my liking although it works well with small bullets 40 to 55gr.H322 works better like duck hunter mentioned.but with you 1/7 twist Savage if you want to see it at its best use bigger bullets with any of these powders Varget, Rl15 & VT 540 no particular order.
My 1/9 twist Remington will shoot 55gr Nosler with lots of Varget 3450fps sub 1/2min.
but 69gr sierras & 75gr Bergers under 1' at 300 with good conditions and I didn't have to much coffee.my friends 1/7 Savage shoots 80gr Sierra's very very good with Varget
