Sako 85 bases and rings?

I am looking at my first Sako 85 and was wondering if you can put rings right onto the dovetails that are on the receiver. I see people talk about Talley rings, but there site lists none. What I would like is a weaver type base so I can put any ring I want on it or will a weaver style ring fit on the factory dovetail. I guess what I am saying is I have plenty of good rings like Burris zee rings on hand so I don't want to shell out another 100 bucks if I don't have to. I'm guessing this won't be the case as there is no cross slot.

Optilock makes a 1 piece ring that fits directly to the dovetail. Talleys are nice. I use Talleys. Here is a photo.

I use Leupolds which go directly to the dovetail on my 85

Use Optilocks right on the dovetails.

I would go with the Optilocks too. I have a set on my T-3, and they are a very solid set up.

I used the Optilock rings and bases set up on all my Sako m75 and Tikka T3 rifles until my custom rifle last year. My gunsmith installed the new style Optilock RINGMOUNTS - no bases required.

Call Bartell at Omineca and order some Leupolds for 70$. Bolt them on and don't look back...
