Need Help finding...

So if I sit in the cockpit of the space shuttle does that make it not a space shuttle because I am untrained?

I second the Howa Axiom for what young fellow wants to do right now.

What's important is to get new people into the shooting sports and we can't accomplish that if we deride their chosen firearm. One person may not like someone elses chosen firearm for esthetic or personal reasons (I don't own an SKS or a hunting rifle with a left-hand action), but that doesn't make their choice any less valid than another's.

The OP's choices were rather far fetched and seriously lacked any logical reasoning aside from "what's cool online". Asking a genuine question regarding a make/model you're interested in is great. That's not what the OP was doing. The first post was nothing but mental masturbation over some technical data without any input as to what the intended use would be.

As for "sniper rifles" there is no such thing. There are precision rifles which are capable of extreme accuracy at extreme ranges regardless of target medium. "sniper rifle" is an ignorant buzz word used in hollywood and by the talentless hacks we call the media to propagate fear mongering and increase circulation numbers/viewership. A rifle used by a trained individual in the art of long range precision shooting of enemy combatants could be labelled as a"sniper rifle". To the intelligent and self thinking, its nothing but a highly tuned precision rifle..

The OP is only one of a legitimately large consumer segment that wants a rifle that looks tacticool, but where its function is secondary. I/We can criticize, but if he wants to spend his money on one and he is happy playing with it, then we have another shooting enthusiast in our ranks, and one less potential liberal voter.

Only experience and time will teach him whether this rifle was a wise investment or not, but in the mean time you have to hand it to the companies that fill the niche market for these type of products.

$1000... that's for the stock right?

I agree with what your saying, but this is not a gun store, we don't have to cater to someone who shows no interest in precision and accuracy. It is a little insulting for the regulars on the Precision Rifle section, when someone comes along and shows no respect for the things that matter to us and just wants something that looks cool.

Seems like everyone associates precision and long range with snipping. When someone asks for a cheep sniper rifle and we indulge him it makes us all sound like a bunch of wanna bee’s. I have no problem with answering legitimate questions for people that have done some research and want to buy an accurate rifle or improve accuracy, but when a guy comes along and asks for a sniper rifle and does not show any interest in precision or accuracy, it's a :kickInTheNuts:.

As far as one less shooter in the ranks, one less wanna bee sniper might not be a bad thing. People that want to be and act like snipers worry me, they are the type of shooters that give the rest of us precision shooters a bad name. I'd rather help a guy spend his money to improve his shooting rather than to help him look "super tacti'cool".

TDC hit the nail on the head!
