M305 fun..A friend just showed me this on the net...

doesnt turn it 'full auto' at all, it just makes it shoot semi auto pretty fast. its just a gimick, a fun one, but you cant actually hit nothing doing it.

Sort of like doing the "thumb-index on bolt, middle-finger on trigger" thing with an Enfield. Fun, not recommended for accuracy....:D

BTW, this video is "cool" b/c, while anyone can bumpfire an SKS :p.....it takes a little bit more guts/creativity/lunacy to do so with an M-14!

M1 Carbines bump fire beautifully. Same with the Garands.

I really don't see how bump firing is going to raise the muzzle so high you'll shoot yourself in the face. That's like saying if you're not strong enough and you shoot a big calibre from the shoulder, it'll flip into the air and land straight on your head.

Just people who don't know how bump firing works.

Floating pin Rotating bolt

Anything with a with a floating firing pin, and rotating bolt can be bump fired. I think that most American made semi auto military rifle.

"...more than 5..." Definitely. Bubba is using an illegal mag.
"...What is so unsafe about bump firing?..." Watch the video again and look closely at the muzzle. It's moving all over. Bullets are flying everywhere past whatever back stop Bubba was shooting at, if there was one.
"...Perhaps he switched the follower..." Changing the follower doesn't remove the Canadian required pinning. If the mag isn't permanently pinned to 5, the mag is illegal, in Canada.

It's probably not new to most of you, but thought I'd share for anyone who hasn't heard/seen it.

So who's trying it at there club? :D

"Bump firing" is basically an activity of babies.

Yes it may be "fun" but you are supposed to be "mature" enough to make responsible choices.

What is the first & second things that you are supposed to have learned about guns??

1. Guns are always "loaded" so check the chamber & prove safe.
2. Always point in a safe direction, never point at anything you do not desire to destroy.

Ranges have backstops for a reason, firing from the hip in a semi (un)controlled manner, how do you guarantee where each round is impacting? You simply cannot

I suppose I should add that my opinion is partially based on the fact that I am a range chairman, and do not want the ranges I represent shut down by the local, provincial or federal authorities thru the IRRESPONSIBLE ACTIONS of a few childish individuals.

Any time that a bullet or other projectile exits it's designated impact area the possibility exists of (at the worst case) a fatality. The best possibly bad outcome is merely a complaint being lodged which results in a ranges approvals being reviewed.

Most of us who have been involved with a range are familiar with the problem neighbor who complains about the noise and the "danger".

I am personally aware of a number of people who have complained (from @3 separate ranges) of bullets impacting their driveways and homes. In several of these cases the "fired" bullets which "escaped" the range were found to not have been engraved by rifling. The one range was shut down anyway thru this and other complaints.

So to all those who love "bump firing", grow the f*** up.

WAAAAHHHHH

Out here some of our ranges have MOUNTAINS as backstops. You would be more likely to launch yourself backwards off a cliff with a .22 than shoot overtop of it.

If you can't control your guns, don't use them. If you can do it safely, go ahead and do it.

I suppose I should add that my opinion is because I AM A GUN OWNER AND I DON'T WANT WHINY OFFICIOUS NANCIES TO RUIN MY SPORT ANY MORE THAN UNSAFE YAHOOS.

So to all those who can't tell the difference between a problem with an individual shooter and a problem with a type of shooting, both wake and grow the #### up. It is perfectly possible to bump fire in a controlled manner. If YOU can't do that, there is something wrong WITH YOU. Not with bumpfiring.

Does that mean all the mags that came with my M305s are illegal?....

They aren't pinned at all.. they just have a long strip of metal on the bottom of the follower that wont allow it to load more then 5 rounds...

I believe if the base plate is permanently secured in place, meaning you can not remove it and take the metal strip off, then you are legal.

Hence the reason Ontario is baffling all ranges over 100M

Oh yeah, what does this really mean?? probably 3/4 of all ranges will lose approval temporarily or perminantly.

But I guess I'm just a whiner.

Base plate as in bottom of the mag?...

Ive disassembled them for cleaning quite a bit and nothing is really secured...

The metal just acts like a plug for the follower and its welded to the bottom.

Too bad you have so many morons there...bump firing sure isn't causing any problems out here so I guess it's an ontario thing.

Or maybe you happen to live in a province which is out to ban guns in the first place, and playing nice by not bump-firing was only going to buy you a few more minutes...

Wake up, your problems are not a result of bump firing. Your problems are a result of idiots. Anyone who is not an idiot is perfectly capable of bump firing a gun safely. If you can't...well, it's sure not my problem.
