Stoner SR-15 - value and rarity??

My screws are walking out constantly - it is super annoying. I only have 2 screws as well. The only reason they have not lost themselves, because the heat panels are keeping them there.

I would love to have another KAC E3 upper in 14.5".......E3 bolt is the heat.
 
the lower handguard is retained by a spring loaded stud - but it is also fastened by 2 (well, or 4) screws. These 4 screws, also, supposedly, keep the GL in place. In the older gen (prototype?), there is not even a spring loaded stud. The lower was held by 4 screws.

Sure loctite will work.

But they are not supposed to be loctited - otherwise everytime someone needs to attach the GL or detach the lower for maintenance, it needs to be reloctited.

That doesn't make a lot of sense.

Saying that, it is a range gun here, so if it needs to be locktited it is no big deal.

daniel defense mk18 rails bottom section is held by 4 screws. note they have some sort of plastic bell washer to keep em from loosening. Could this method work on the URX?

We changed designs of URX screws.
The earlier Hex nut screws rocked -- then for ease of Army use we ened up with the slot head screw used currently.

These screws do not tighten up as well as the hex nut, and they come with a Nylok washer to help keep them tightened.

Current 5.56mm URX's come with 2 screws - and the retaining clip -- it is recommended to put the screws under the rail panels and they cannot come loose.

Personally - I take Blue Loctite - and wipe the screw with it, and let it dry over night off the gun, and then screw them in. It allows for removal, yet the screw will not come loose.

and I will get you replacements.

I think the blue locktite strategy should work well.

Just out of curiousity - how heavy is the barrel of the SR15. It appears to be thinner than the M4 - almost like a slightly beefed up M16A1 pencil barrel?

That's hard to gauge since the handguards weigh different too. I know that my muzzle brake probably adds yet even more weight.

I spoke with PWS today about these... they are not available yet (the US backlog is playing havoc with delivery times and costs). PWS hopes to have them available in about 8 to 10 weeks and pricing is still not final (doubtful they will meet their original expectation apparently).

We will be getting some for our US office and if we can get permit approval we'll bring a few in to Canada. It looks like they'll be close to the same price range as the Diablo by the time all costs are included.

I might have asked you this before Mark, but how would the PWS piston kit work on a Stag N8CQB upper(10.3" barrel), and would a KAC RAS work on it(the Diablo is just a bit out of my price range at the moment :()?

I also read on anther site about a Colt 6920 upper that had the piston kit installed, and the user was pretty happy with how it was working.

I'm thinking of sending you a couple uppers to be worked on......
